I filed a form cancelling a couple tax exemptions today that I had on my home because they no longer applied. I know they give you two years to apply late to receive these exemptions, but I wonder if it's the same when it comes to cancelling them. I called two counties, and neither of them had an answer as to whether are not I'm going to be charged late fees. The property taxes are paid up, but this is of course with the exemptions. I just want to remove it from one property and apply it to another. This is for the 2023 tax year, so it hasn't been that long. My realtor was the only one who said, no they'll just make you pay the difference basically. So, whatever the amount is without the exemptions. I just hope I don't get nailed with a bunch of penalties, but I figured I better correct it soon than later. Anyone have experience with this? I figured we have enough knowledgeable people on here to know what the answer would be lol
