Ford's $35.1 Billion EV Fiasco

I think I might buy a Cybertruck since the hate comments just for owning a Tesla have really calmed down. The Cybertruck is catching the most of it still.
Here ya go!

Ha ha ha. We passed one on the highway yesterday. Wife was like "what could one possibly NEED one of those for?" I really had no answer for her. I just wonder how that body will hold up and look after several years? Those will likely end up something like the DeLoreans did. Collector items rarely driven. By the way, What do they cost ? Anyone?
Yeah I don't get it either when Tesla makes better, more affordable options.

Drive one for 10 minutes and then let it drive you for another 10 minutes and you’ll fall in love. Seriously it’s embarrassingly addictive to drive. Hopefully Tesla brings the steer by wire to the more mainstream models soon!

$100,000. Resale has been horrible. If you bought one and flipped it in the first few months you made out likeva bandit. A number of owners were quoted low 70 thousand trade in after only six months and 5-6k miles. Doug Demuros podcast says that by the end of 2027 with current markets they'll sell for under $30k.

I've tried fsd and autopilot. It's not trustworthy and causes complacency in driving. Should be banned outright. All it takes is one time and it gets you or someone else killed. Not something to "fall in love" over.

I have to be honest and I see myself as neither yay or nay to EVs. They are all nothing more than vehicles with a different engine types.
Anyway, your post actually got me excited for a moment a cybertruck in the 30k range I would go out and buy right now. So I did a search. Lowest price within 100 miles from me is $80,000 for a used.
I have been unreasonably wanting a pickup truck for absolutely nothing useful other than a grown up Tonka truck toy/ I'll never do it but been scanning the used 2017 to 2021 Chevy's and Fords. Would like that Chevy blue, clean no bling, back rims black short running boards, I see one in my community everyday pass me buy as I walk the dog *LOL*.

Anyway... not getting a truck but a Cybertruck in the price it would be a non brainer for me.

I will want to replace my Traverse one day with another SUV type to pull our boat trailer. 5000lbs assuming we still own it.

I honestly think Musk posted the $40k Cybertruck price to get deposits. I don't think engineers, marketing and sales thought for a second it would be able to meet that price point.
I think you give Musk too much credit with that thinking.
I honestly think it was a royal screw up. Actually he has admitted it.

Honestly that's the biggest danger of FSD. Most of the time it is really good. I've been impressed by it, but it keeps me on edge monitoring because I want to be alert to step in. So many say that it makes their drive more relaxing. All I hear when they say that is that they're not staying alert enough to step in.

I'd still rather just drive myself in most cases.

Well, we have seen it proven time after time in this day and age, no matter what someone dreams up, @ whatever outlandish price they attach to it, there is always some folks who will jump in and plunk down the most outrageous money if only to show that they can.
Of course there are several other reasons as well for someone to own such a thing. A lot of the car hobby people (including me at one point) do not want to own a classic or muscle car like everyone else. They want a rare one.

We had a guy one street over from me. From the way his house looked, his run down yard, all of the broke down cars and trucks littering his yard, one would expect him to be flat out broke/dirt poor. He may be. I still do not know. YET, he ended up with one of the "bigger" size Hummers. Of course he is the exception. Many of the Hummer owners and other expensive / exotic vehicle owners are very well off / wealthy and can afford an expensive toy if they want.

He admitted last week at the investors on-call that and I quote "Optimus isn't doing any meaningful work at any Tesla factories. Optimus is still in the R&D

Stage. He should do prison time. The fact that he can make up and blatantly lie is inexcusable. I say we shut down Tesla, close the garbage boring co for dumping chemicals in the Las Vegas sewage system and make all Tesla vehicles illegal to operate on US roads.

Fsd isn't as safe as Tesla claims. Why support a company that has hid crash data?

Nobody has done as much for the US automotive, energy storage, solar, battery production, materials processing and recycling, AI, autonomous vehicles, and robotics industries as Elon has.

He’s not perfect and bends the truth but without him none of those industries would be anything.

I have a bridge to sell, it is in Brooklyn and I am willing to let it go cheap.

I'll buy a worse, more expensive EV to appease your dislike of FSD. 🙄

I've had about enough of the stupidity at this site. Buying the car isn't support of FSD.

What if people that hate EVs just ignore the EV section of the site? I don’t post in the section about what oil to use with “oil is bad buy a Tesla”
