Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Tahoe?

I don't have much personal experience with the Tahoe's, but one of my in-law's has owned two Expeditions. The first one she bought was an '04, super reliable and she loved it. The second one is an '11 model, and she loves that one so far.

She actually ended up keeping the '04 for various reasons, one of them being that she had a hard time letting it go.

I forgot to mention that based on the Chevy comparison tool and price alone, the scales are tipped way over to Ford (these are MSRP):

-- Tahoe = $57,070 (4WD LTZ)
-- Ford = $49,125 (4WD Limited)

$7,900 difference...

Wow, no way I'd pay that much money for that little space. Id buy a pilot or highlander if looking for a vehicle with that size.

IMO the better value is to downgrade the junk that is put inside, and go with a suburban or Ford equivalent, so you actually have functional space inside with the third row seats in use.

IMO the GM interior is a bit nicer, but they are what they are, so again, what's the better deal and MPG figures?

If she can drive a tahoe, than a suburban is just a little longer. If she is incompetent with one, then she will be with the other...

Practicality is a consideration spending that kind of dough, at least it is in my household...

We took a long look at the tahoe, but have decided that we will go suburban when the time comes vs tahoe, because the size setup of the tahoe is worthless cargo-wise when the third row is in use. A minivan has more space.

I am not talking competency, I am talking about if she likes it. My wife likes Tahoes but she does not like Suburbans. Besides when you are talking about driving a truck, I have seen many women drive them better than their male significant others.

Happy wife, happy life. That is why I have an 07 Equinox and not an Enclave. I like the Enclave. The wife loves the Equinox.
You do the math.

Having spent a lot of time on the Tahoes, there seems to be many more of them here in the Bay area than the Fords. tahoes seem to hold up pretty well. Since I mostly perform alignments the one thing I can tell you is that the steering system on them tend to be a little on the weak end. Tie rods are half the thickness than my little Tacoma and therefore I'm finding them worn and sometimes bent. The up side to this is that the upper control arms are adjustable for camber while the Fords are not. The chassis appears to me anyway to be solid.
Fords Are built really well too. However, as I said before we have many more Tahoes here and I have only worked on a few dozen so far and with that little amount I can not make a real solid judgement for or against it.
But if space is what you need the minivans are far better than either of these choices.
