An extremely misinformed individual here. Please note that large trucks and SUV's pay a LOT more taxes in fuel, registration, etc., than smaller vehicles. Even more tax at purchase!
The other stuff is pure politics. Not going there.
Texas registration averages about 60 dollars for pickup trucks, while passenger cars push 75+. what was that you were saying?
Where?

PASSENGER CARS
The annual license fee for a passenger car, city bus, or private bus shall be based on the manufacturer’s model year or weight in pounds, as the
case might be, of the vehicle as follows:
MODEL YEAR OR WEIGHT IN POUNDS FEE
2003 AND OLDER MODELS..................................… $40.80
2004, 2005 AND 2006 MODELS ........................................… $50.80
2007 AND NEWER MODELS..................................… $58.80
6,001 LBS. AND OVER....................................… $25.00 PLUS 60¢ CWT PLUS 30¢
Once you add in Tarrant County's fee, it comes out to about $60 ea. for my cars. My Integra was $50.00
