Ford Expedition or Chevrolet Tahoe?

There was a country that thought the same way. No one needed more than a fiberboard box with a two stroke engine and thats exactly what they got.
Once you start denying people the right to choose what they want without harassment from government, special interest groups or even self righteous individuals its a slippery slope to the bottom with no way back.

What I was saying is that in Florida the registration fees are based on GVWR. So larger heavier vehicles pay a LOT more taxes on this particular piece of paper.

Did you forget about all the other taxes while shopping for this particular point? There's a LOT more we could discuss. Did anyone remember fuel, I recall it's taxed heavily. Even tires and other consumables typically have a sales tax, eh?

Some of these people wont be happy till we are all driving an enclosed electric golf cart or a lawnmower with seats with a shopping cart on the back.
They would prefer we all live in caves and ride mountain bikes though.

NEITHER.

Buy a "lightly" used Escalade. Save yourself $20-30K.

They are out there, some with really low miles that have never been OFF-ROAD other than on a gravel path or across someone's lawn.

She did think about that one, but I thought the Expedition and Tahoe were larger? We take long trips (TX to CO/WY/MT) and with 2 German Shepherds, kids and luggage, space is a premium. The 5.4L is not a worry; it would be the same as my FX4 and so maintenance would be SO easy (same filters + oil). The other SUV that is being considered is the Tahoe Hybrid, but I am not finding a great deal of information about problems, satisfaction, etc.
If you got the chevy you wouldnt be able to use all that Mobil Super 5w-20 you have , you would have to stock up on a dexos oil lol

The EX is the top one. The loaded LX is the enclose version.

I seem them both running over 200k miles, tahoe do have more room though. and seem more popular for family vehicle. Almost 90% peoples in my neighbor hood having a tahoe, 2005+

Yeah, not a bad suggestion at all. One of my neighbors has an '04 EXT (the Escalanche) that has been really reliable. The only problem I'm aware of is that the power folding side mirror button broke.

Yeah it is a great suggestion. But some people read 6.2L V8 in a SUV and then they will start to get a tingle and faces start turning beat red.

Hey, I'm kinda' a FORD (Truck) guy, myself. Just bought another even older one.

But in the large luxury SUV mode I have to admit that buying a $57K (BA$E!!!) vehicle for typically 1/2 that price is a great way to go.

Finding the correct one is a little harder, but as I suggested there are a lot of these vehicles (Don't overlook a Yukon Denali, either) out there with little or no off-road use...

No the Ford 5.4 puts out more torque 10 less ponies but is slightly quicker. Quite a bit quicker from 45-65MPH. So-loam times and lateral acceleration are nearly identical. Why is the last part important in a SUV I do not know, but for some reason people believe the GM platform is more nimble in the current generations that is not case.

Get the Ford, it's a lot safer and has a newer design that the Chevy.
