Ford 2.7 ecoboost element filter

My younger brother recently bought a nice 2016 F150 Lariat with the engine and I had been looking at filter options off and on and walmart.


They do sometimes stock the motorcraft filter FL-2062, it seems to be a fast seller and they don't get put out in large quantities. They are 6.38 a filter

They have some K&N PS-7037 filters but they are on clearance for 6 bucks and only 4 left, don't know how these compare to the motorcraft filters as they are made in Korea

then I checked the Fram filter CH11955 which cost more then the motorcraft filter at 6.97 and its made in China.


and then Microgard at Oreillys is 10 bucks and the Wix is 15.


Just wondering what others use in the 2.7 if the Motorcraft isn't available and would it be worth it to stock up on the K&N filters if they are any good?

Don't give K&N any money lol. Motorcraft or Wix is a good choice. I'm not a Fram fan but I'm sure they'll be fine.

Why worry about what Walmart stocks? Just go to the local dealership and by the OEM filter.

Same..... If they look like they are made well.

I can't say I have anything bad to say about Korean oil filters.

I can't say I have anything bad to say about Korean oil filters.
SK seems a pretty good COO. I would say Japan>SK>Taiwan. I can't say that I have used a lot of products from there but I have never been disappointed, either. Also SK>>Mexico, where K&N filters were later produced IIRC.

What is the COO of the motorcraft filter It could be china as well, lots of name filters come from all over now. I wouldn't assume M/C COO is US unless it says it on filter.

RockAuto has the FL 2062 Motorcraft.

no idea where the Motorcrafts are made. the K&N filter said right on it as did the Fram, but the MC doesn't say on it nor on the box


I'd assume that the price for an MC would be more at the dealer as they are more on amazon etc. then they would be at walmart.


i'll take a closer look at the K&N's next time i stop there

If the date code on the Motorcraft begins with the letter F, then the filter was made in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

I don't know for sure, I think it has the OLM in it


i'm guessing he'll go 3 to 5k


as for oil I have 6 quarts Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 that I'm going to gift him for the first oci as I don't really need it because i stocked up on Napa syn and Formula Shell Syn.

and then I'll probably recommend him to keep using a Full Synthetic like Quaker State or Castrol Magnatec

so i bought 2 of the K&N filters for now.


I had bought a Motorcraft a couple weeks ago.


here's some pics of them side by side, I do like the plastic ends on the motorcraft filter.

and the o-rings are bright reddish color as well vs the kn is just black, i assumed they are different material.

Id go with Motorcraft.. Somthing about Genuine parts.. My Grand Father had 2 very cool jobs.. He was at R&D * Research & Development at Ford for 5 years. Then he moved to GM and was at there R&D for over 20 years and he would always tell me when I was 16 years old all the way up to 20s. He would say if you have a Ford get motorcraft. If you have a GM get a A/C Delco. If you have a Toyota Get Toyota ect ect.. I asked him why.. He told me that GM and others did hundreds of hours of R&D to see what oil filter had the best results as far as flow and filtration and he would say if there was a better filter then it would be in the car. Ever since I have always be big on Genuine parts... At least if I can afford them.

Also looks like Motorcraft has more pleats / more filter media...
