Okay okay....it's not the car, it's the driver. (the wife)

For a car that gets the oil pretty beat down (women driver + bunches on city drving), and M1 has been up to the task so far. (plus a few runs of PP) But they car will be coming to me as the wife upgrades and hitting "beater" status as well. (car is closing in on 10 years old).

In this 72k Ecotec engine, should I just keep rolling with M1, or start to use up my Napa syn stash, or even try a very good syn blend (like Kendall) for strict 4-7k runs with a good amount of city driving?

And Yes, I should do a UOA on this batch of M1 to see how much abuse it is really taking...

Used PP and the same with M1: 5-7k with an AC delco filter.

Why so? I would think an ashland based synthetic would protect just as well as it's sister syn Synpower, but with a slightly lower add pack and a shorter run time.

I've noticed Kendall takes a beating pretty well though...

Any reason why you now think it might not be enough?

I know...I think I could stretch it out longer, but until I get a UOA, about 6k is a safe bet for now.

To be honest, I kinda want to dump the rest of my Napa syn on her car, and get a new oil for my Balt. I've been impressed by some of Kendall's semi syn numbers...and the good prices that I have found it for.

how long does your 5-7K OCI take? if you think she beats up the oil (based on... ) then 5K is probably better if you want the car to last, if not then 7K and nobody will care

I'd say every 4-5 months...

It's an Ecotec... It'll go a half a million miles on moose [censored]... Throw whatever you want in and keep it there for a reasonable time and you can be assured a long service life.
