First oil filter you ever installed or used?

I have no doubt that some people have had great experiences with them.
With me not buying one, there'll be one more out there for someone to enjoy.

I'm assuming that 150K means miles and that they weren't spending $150,000 in tires and brakes per vehicle.

That being said, what tire was giving that company 150,000 miles?

We would only have to put brakes and tires on them to get the trucks to 150k miles. Actually the factory Uniroyal Tiger Paws would go for a good 60k. 150k-200k usually brought a radiator or fuel pump needing replacement.

You and many other others I would suspect.

Even DuPont said PTFE/Teflon had no place in an internal combustion engine. But cashing in on the Teflon craze was marketing genius.

Have a feeling now though, something the makers of the orange can would rather be forgotten. Good for frying pans though.

If interested in a novelty item, while a bit pricey, DG still available from Amazon.

A Kubota or Toko Roki filter were probably the first ones I ever installed/ used.

My go to while I started to drive was a Purolator with QSGB.

An AC/Delco on the first oil change on my 1971 Chevrolet Vega GT.

It didn't take long to hit the "add oil" line after that.

That car spawned my current love for American cars.

How many engines did you have fail during that time of using FRAM EG's? Let me guess--the same number that I had fail---ZERO. While I agree in principle there are better filters than the Extra Guard (IMHO, I think they need more media), the simple fact remains they still get the job done.

2010_FX4: I am guessing you used a MC filter? I am probably wrong so if so I apologize in advance. I may have missed your reply so again I apologize

Why feel the need to put words in my mouth?

I said "until I knew better" not "until I lost an engine". Once I looked into it and saw there were better products available, I switched. Not everything has to be a Fram battle.

my first car was a 1974 super beetle. first oil change was with beck/arnley oil strainer ($1.99) and 4 quarts of the old castrol syntec 5W-30.

immediately had quicker starts, and smoother running engine.
