First oil filter you bought?

Remember using a Lee on my MGB in 1980.
Prior to that IIRC my Vega got K-Mart's house brand, which they called Motorvator, I think.
Used lots of Frams in lots of cars over the years as well as Puros and the occasional AC.

I bought an M1-212 and 6 quarts of Mobil 1 5W-20 for a 2013 Ford Explorer Base with the 3.5L V6 NA FWD. I did my first oil change at the age of 23. I was a bit late to the DIY game. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I was a teen working at the Pep Boys parts counter (I remember all the parts books!!) and used Purolator filters then figured out the Pep Boys filter was a rebadged Purolater and started using them for like $1 less lol. I will say I never used a Fram orange can!

I was 16 and saved that summer for a 1981 Chevy Luv pickup. First oil filter I bought was a FRAM Orange Can of death and some Pennzoil. That's what my Dad aways used, so that's what I used. Truck ran great. Sold it after College when I went in the Navy.

I was probably in middle school and would have been a FRAM. Likely bought it when I was getting the Rocky's Theme "Gonna Fly Now" on a 45.

I got my grandmothers '79 Malibu on my 16th birthday, 2001. It got Mobil 1 10w30 synthetic and a Fram OCD within the first week.

2001, I was 16. Grandfather gave me my first car, my passed grandmothers 79 Malibu, 305/th200/2.29. Had 77,587miles on it IIRC.

I didnt really know much beyond what TV told me, so I ran a OCOD with Castrol GTX 10w30 on its first oil change. Few months later I started driving the car and it spun a rod bearing. I blamed all of it. But many years later I remembered my grandfather totally overheated the poor thing driving it up to my bday party. I was so excited, I totally ignored that and likely is what did it in and maybe fuel dilution from short firing it in my driveway.

Whatever brand that was on the shelf in the automotive aisle at the Skaggs Drug Store my dad worked at. It would have been sometime in 1972 (after I turned 15) and was for a 1967 Ford Galaxy 500 with the 390 engine. As far as oil, it was most likely Pennzoil 10w40 because it was on sale for a ridiculously low price somewhere between $0.20 - $0.40 per quart. The special was 5 quarts for $1.00 or $2.00.

A few years later (1974) I found myself working for the local Pennzoil Distributor unloading box cars, semi-trucks, and hauling cases containing 24 quart cans and 55 gallon drums of oil around the warehouse. We also had lots of Pennzoil branded oil filters so I began to purchase those to use for oil changes on my folks cars. If I recall correctly, I was charged around $0.75 per filter. Also, the employee cost for a case of Pennzoil (remember 24 quart cans) was something like $8 or $9.

Later on I learned I could purchase auto parts (spark plugs, fan belts, brake shoes, etc.) from various distributors and wholesalers for what seemed like next to nothing compared to retail at the local auto part stores. Life seemed so grand!

My response is post 24.
I just want to thank this thread for reminding me of Lee Oil Filters.
The Two Guys store was closer than Sears and I was often on a bicycle.
