Hello and what was your first car you had? I had a old 91' Sunbird that was my first car. Then drove my 78' Chevy 2wd truck with the 350 and 4bbl carb for a long time. What was your first car/truck and how long did you have it, and what kind of oil did you use in it also. I used ST oil in my first vehicle.

Funny that you say your first car was a sunbird, mine was too! I had a white four door 89 pontiac sunbird with dark blue interior. I bought it in 2005, the year before my senior year. It had 80k miles when I got it. Paid 2k for it. All its life it got 5w-30 HM Supertech oil, which it did great on. Had the car for 6 years (no accidents). Now I have my second car the 08 Saturn Aura XE in my tag below. I think "the bird" was a great first car, taught me a lot about cars and their value.

First car that I owned myself was a 1969 Opel GT (purchased used in 1979). I used Castrol oil and if I remember correct it was chosen because it maintained oil pressure at idle the best (car had a real working oil pressure gauge)

I had a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier with the 2.2L OHV and 3T40 3 speed automatic transmission. I had it for about 3 years or so and put 15 or 20k miles on it. I ran a couple different oils in it.
In no particular order...
Mobil 1
TropArtic
GC 0W30
Maxlife Syn
Probably a few Im forgetting.

Gee...I bunch of J bodies for first cars here..

Guess I'll add mine: A sporty little 1987 Cavalier w/Rally trim. Had the car for nearly 10 years, when someone hit it in a parking lot.

It mostly ran Quaker State dino, with some Durablend toward the end....

My first car was Honda sivic vti orel, bought in 2007 in metallic grey color and till have in my use. I love very much with it because i purchased it from my pocket money. I'm using simple oil.

I still miss it a lot, though my current truck is significantly more useful and comfortable. My red Ranger was an ox cart in comparison, but fun with the manual. It went to a good home though.

First car was a hand me down 1989 mazda 323. First I bought was an 82 cadillac cimarron. Supertech and STP filters on both. Actually, it was still Tech2000 as it was before Y2k.

$.74/qt for the oil, $1.97 for the filters.

Sweet! My first car, a hand me down from mom, was similar: a 71 Plymouth Scamp with the "leaning tower of power." Loved that car

I miss that car everyday, loved the foot powered washer fluid pump, the high beam switch on the floor, the shoulder seat belts you could tuck up into the head liner if you didn't want to use them, and most importantly, the huge air vents under the dash. Those suckers were big enough you could fit a six pack in them

Dad took care of maintaining it, always used PYB, back when it was still made in PA, or later on, VWB (he was a Mark Martin fan). I used to help him adjust the valves on it when I was a kid. Most people are surprised to learn that those engines had solid lifters in them when I tell them. Had 197,000miles on it when we sold it, ran like a top, no blue smoke and didn't use oil, just leaked a lot of it

Sadly the subframe had started to rust through.

Engine was tough, used in taxi cabs back then. Could run on all kinds of fuels including propane. Had lifter ticking as a standard option from the factory. Would be unacceptable today.

First car was a 1968 Mercury Montego Convertible in 1978. Had a 302 and an automatic. Used lots (and I emphasize lots) of Gulfpride 10W30 or the Mobil equivalent, as they were usually the .59 or < specials. Finally by 1987, the body needed work and family talked me out of a total restoration. Fun car, still miss it 25 years after I got rid of it.

1978 Ford Fairmont station wagon...200ci six with a 4-speed manual transmission. Had it about a year and a half...used whatever oil I got on sale, generally Pep Boys or Benny's house brands: 10W-30 winter, 20W-50 summer.

I had a 1961 Chevy Corvair, Ralph Nader was wrong!
The car was great in the snow with snow tires on the back.

Had it until 1976 and was still getting me around reliably!

My first car that I got around January of 1991 was a 1982 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe (base model). It was two-tone as it was light blue on the top and navy blue on the bottom. Had the Buick 3.8L carbed V6 and a 3-speed auto. It was VERY worn out but we replaced the engine and tranny. Gave it a quickie repaint as well.

I first used Castrol GTX 10w30 at the time but I remember switching to Valvoline later on. I ended up driving it until the late summer of 1993.

I Honestly Don't Know how to answer this..could be 1 of 3 cars.
Started Driving around '96.
for the First Couple years it was equal time in either:
1)1993 Chevy Corsica.[4cyl,auto, crank windows, am/fm stereo(not even a tape deck), White], it was mom's car, but i got to borrow it a lot.
2)1994 Ford Aerostar, [3.0 Vulcan v-6, auto w/OD, had a tape deck,"Cayman Green"= Teal], it was dad's Personal car, but he had a company car for work.(the aerostar was one of his old company cars, they replaced them @ 60k mi, and gave the guys the option of buying. that was i think his 4th of 6 aerostars over the years) drove it a lot of the time.

when i got out of high school, and started working/ going to college, the aerostar became my primary(it was what was available), then round sept'98, mom bought a new '99 Taurus, and i got the Corsica.(First car in my name)

then a month later grandpa Died, I got his '87 Olds 98 [3.8 v6, auto w/OD, cassette, Power windows, locks, antenna, and 6 way adjustable power seats. "driftwood Metallic"=champainey-gold, Vinyl top,& Air Level Ride] and the corsica went to my older sister, who wanted "a car" instead of the pickup she was driving.
I drove the Olds From oct.98-Aug.01

so even though the van was the first car that i was the primary driver, and the Corsica was the first car actually titled to me, (but only for a month), the olds "feels" like my first car....

as for oil.. @ that time BP Procare still existed, and we used them for all our maintenance, so likely some Castrol variant in a 10w30, and when they closed, i took the olds to the new "Valvoline Instant Oil Change" place in front of where i worked.
still w/ conv. 10w30.
