Fine work at Jiffy Lube???

Just wondering about your good experiences at Jiffy Lube. For me, amoung quick lube places, Jiffy is king. I've been twice. First time I had a nice wrench missing from the trunk. I know, why go back...but, years later, I did. They didn't know to put a new crushable washer on my Accord's drain. Oh, and they lost the old washer. Of course, a Honda Accord is a pretty unusual vechicle where I live.

All kidding aside. Are they REALLY bad everywhere, or is my town special. ....and people ask why I change me own oil.

I had them change the oil in my Pathfinder in a pinch...lost the gaskets to the wing nuts on my air filter (which I told them not to touch)...went 4 wheeling in the sand no less and discovered that I could see into the housing through the gap in airbox where the gasket should be...nice! They definitely put the effort into finding it because I remember them milling around the truck for 5 minutes or so looking for something. That should have raised a red flag right there, but I was excited to get going. I wish they could have just told me.

Jiffy and Walmart have the bad rap here. Some of the Pennzoil lube centers are pretty good, though. They do stock crush washers and drain plugs, also.

I've been lucky, I guess living in small town Oklahoma, you can get right up there and watch/talk with the workers. I have caught them trying to open the air filter box on the Mustang and not taking off wire clips, busted. But there is no way I'd leave my car for an oil change where I could not watch the workers. The Supercenter Wally's are notorious for that. They can't let you in to watch for "insurance" reasons, yeah whatever. To me, someone working on my car is like having a child go through surgery.

Jiffy Lube is "anal retentive" and is my last lube choice, bar none. They are over priced, bland and offer inferior filters. They do have good locations and are easy to find.

I go to a local "quick lube" they have a variety of engine oil choices and you can bring your own filter and/or oil.

I cannot stand someone else working on my Jeep. If it's something I can do, I will do it, even if it costs me more in the end. I just had my windshield replaced, and couldn't do it myself because my insurance was paying for it. I was freaking out the whole time...

(and yes, he did a crappy job)
