Finally got the boat out of storage

We’re looking at 2,400 HP. But once again we know not the torque, and I believe from what I read online, I/O and inboard have more torque.
A 7.6l V12 with a two-speed transmission and contra-rotating props is not lacking for torque at any RPM.

interesting, I thought they all handled reverse like that! But, I haven't been boating that long. A friend suggested trimming up for reverse so that less of the propwash is shielded or impinging on the hull....seemed to help a bit.
Keeping your post in mind we did try that the last time we were out, trimming the motor up a bit in reverse.
I was thinking it may have helped, but now I question myself and wish I paid more attention. I’ll have to check it out again next time.

We were out on the boat last Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday made our way up the intercoastal, a little bit further exploring.
I have a story to tell, something that has never happened to me in 50 years 🤨

When I had larger boats, I always had dual batteries set ups however, this boat I didn’t bother. It’s just runabout that we trailer.

Anyway, anchored at the beach near Shallotte Inlet, beautiful hot days last week, we went to leave at about 4 PM and in disbelief. I turned the ignition key and the battery was dead. Meter is showing 10 Volts!!!

I was in shock, after all, this is me the perfectionist! Anyway, because it was only a one battery boat we did have jumper cables as I am always prepared for anything. So I asked the boat next to me if it would be OK to get a jump and he said sure bring it over.
However, they were two boats closer to me with a bunch of young fellows there so I stopped and asked them. Nicest guys in the world one of them got all excited because he had one of those lithium power pack jumpers so he ran up the beach to where they had those sun shading tents set up, his friend told me as he was going up there. He carries this thing everywhere he goes.

He brought it down to me was a robust NOCO $300 unit that could even start large semi tractor trailers. I put it on the battery posts and with one turn of the key, the engine started up. I thanked them so much!!! I said I have to get one of these and he offered that I do not have to get something as powerful as the one he had.

So from the time I found out my battery was dead at most. It was five minutes that went by before my engine was running.
I found the problem was a stuck bilge pump float in the on position.
Anyway, I just bought this unit from Walmart for less than $100 shipped to my house.
Can also come in handy, during possible power failures at the house or anything like that I want to charge up cell phones and laptops.

Walmart onsite for $89, Amazon $169 Just checking Walmart now out of stock. Even this is way more powerful than what is needed but at the price it would have been stupid to buy something less for the same money.

Being the boat is trailered I guess I neglected the built up grease on the float which was most likely Mercuriser Anti Corrosion spray that I spray the engine down with each pre-winter layup. It provides a tough tacky film to prevent rust and corrosion. I also use a Boeing spray on the electrical, either way, it some how got gummed up I believe as it freely moves up and down now that I sprayed cleaner on it. Its also sort of below the oil filter and oil filter changes always result in some oil making its way down there.
