Is there a list of filter specs that give thread sizes and O-ring diameter as well as size, etc.? Am looking for an oil filter that has M24x2 threads for a tractor. I tried searching but came up empty.
Thanks,
Joe

Baldwin filters at baldwinfilter.com. Go to catalog information, then Size chart search. You can get part number then use those to cross reference to other brands at their respective sites. I see two M24 filters listed. B7026-MPG, and BF7925

This isn't an engine lube filter, is it? This should be a hydraulic filter.

Well, Donaldson makes only one M24x2 (under hydraulic spin-on) ..plenty (well 3 or 4) M24X1.5 ..and a M42x2 ..but just one M24X2.

None that I've been able to find have a bypass valve, so you would have to have one in the block (like Chevy) to have those work on an engine.

Of the two Baldwins, one is hydraulic and the other is for fuel

The Baldwin B7026-MPG is a premium filter as the MPG will given you excellent filtration. MPG stand for maximum performance glass. It will be in the same class or superior to the Amsoil filters.

Descriptions: Maximum Performance Glass Hydraulic Spin-on
Fits: Massey Ferguson Tractors

Thread: M24 x 2.0
O.D.: 3 21/32 (92.9)

Yes ..the mpg is a great media ...

..but ..these are hydraulic filters ..now surely I've seen lube filters used as hydraulic filters ..but never a spec'd hydraulic filter as an engine filter. They're (typically) finer and with like holding capacity. Hence they just don't work well unless you really need that level of filtration and can afford the change out rate. They also don't have bypass valves (unless this is used in a remote mount setup or has an in block bypass mechanism).

The WIX version is rated at 4um nominal. Where have you EVER seen that before on an engine??

Thanks, I finally figured out where you found that info. I cannot decipher what that gasket code means, also, does it have a bypass?
Thanks again for the help.
Joe

Also, I have another filter (these are Chinese and have mostly Chinese markings) which has the inscription ISO/TS16949. Would this be a meaningful ISO number? Where would I look for this info?

Take the same number and plug it into WIX to see the broader details. (leave off the MPG) ..the other number is a fuel filter.

..but, Lazy JW, it might be helpful if you list your tractor manufacture ..engine size ..etc..etc.

..but it does appear to be an obscure engine. There are no lube filters listed with M24x2.0 threads ..only hydraulics. They don't have bypass valves.

Are they remotely mounted? This is where they may have a bypass valve installed. You may also have one in the block ..or this may just one of the liabilities of using this engine in residual costs.

Cut open one of your used or new filters and see if it has a bypass valve. If it does, then ..I think you're out of luck here for a produced "normal supply chain" filter.

This is a Chinese built Jinma 454 tractor that belongs to a friend. I own a Jinma 254 which has filters that readily cross with American stuff; this new 454 seems to be a bit odd indeed. The importers/dealers know less about the filters than you, Gary. One dealer has a conversion nipple for the oil filter to allow use of the Wix 51515 filter. I'm going to suggest this course of action to my friend.
Thanks,
Joe

That would surely open his options a great deal. It's a really odd thread for an engine producer to use. Sure it kinda marries the customer to you until the next guy figures out there's a big enough market to cut your throat, but you've also got to bear the cost of getting a filter manufacturer to puke out your OEM in the -astard thread.

Joe,

Have you poked around tractorbynet.com (compact tractor forum)at all for answers? There's a lot good guys over there in the "discussion" section.

Here's a link to your nipple replacement:

http://www.ranchhandsupply.com/parts/jx85100coilfilter.html

this is the filter number, according to the link: JX85100C (try a google search)

Good luck to you. There is a recent thread at tbn that says Mahindra just purchased Jinma and they are rumoring that the Jinma brand may be curtailed from the US market, like they did with another purchased brand. Repeat....internet rumor.

Apparently this filter works:

http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51224

The cross is the Champ PH2892, WIX version is the 51224.

UPC Number: 765809512245
Principal Application: Audi V8 Coupe (90-94)
All Applications
Style: Spin-On Lube Filter
Service: Lube
Type: Full Flow
Media: Paper
Height: 7.992
Outer Diameter Top: 2.992
Outer Diameter Bottom: Closed
Thread Size: 24X2.0 MM
By-Pass Valve Setting-PSI: None

Gasket Diameters
Number O.D. I.D. Thk.
Attached 2.795 2.441 0.210

It's slightly longer than your OEM JX 85100C, but apparently works.

Thanks guys for all the help. I hadn't heard about the Mahindra/Jinma thing yet. Seems a bit odd but anything is possible. The Jinma is by far the most widely imported into the US and there is already a pretty decent parts supply here. Hmmmmm?

I am a member at http://www.ctoa.com which is the Chinese Tractor Owners Association. There are a number of dealers/importers on that board and are quite helpful but they don't know oils and filters like ya'll do!
Joe

Good work, OVERKILL. Usually on anything international, Donaldson has it. They have all the weirdo (by our standards) threads. Just considering it off hand, I'd never peg an Audi application for this.
