Filter for low mileage long term use

Hey all i got a toyota celica with a 2zzge engine done 83k miles. Its a weekend car and does less than 3k miles a year. Currently i use mobil super 3000 x1 fe oil 5w30. And change around 6 to 7k miles.this can be over 2 years usually. Filter i use is a mobil 1 Mobil 1-209 so its oversized too.

Question is is the Mobil 1 filter fine for this sort of length or would a better filter be something like a fram ultra?

Only worrying thing about fram ultra is the small inlet holes although there are 8 of them and 6 inlet holes on the Mobil 1 filter which are bigger so may be less restriction for a high revving engine.

Don't worry, the base holes are not an issue for flow.

Not really sure, only thing I can say is I would look for a silicone ADBV and maybe synthetic media?

They both have silicone ADBV, but the M1 is only a synthetic blend media. Depends how long you're going to let it go, if going over a year I'd use the Ultra.

Oil filters are the most overthought item on the car, any quality brand will do.

Yes the Ultra will be fine. It's microglass media it can store nearly indefinitely.

Also the Mobil 1 filter should be fine for 3 years as well too.

Get the Fram Ultra. I get 67 psi oil pressure on cold start up.

That's a little high but not uncommon for a 3.8 they have always had high oil pressure it was designed that way.

The 3.6L Pentastar is a lot higher than that even with 5W20 in the sump.

Given the long change interval and small marginal cost per mile, I would never replace a Mobil 1 (or other good filter) with a fram. The Ultra may be a fine product, but I worry so much about the quality of a product from a company that puts out really inferior products on one end happily. I am then put in the awkward situation of tursting them to do it right all the time on the high end, when it's clear they don't care about their other products. Difficult intellectual quandry. I'd rather have a product from a company that has a committed effort at consistent quality regardless of price point.

I'd stick with the Mobil 1. Or get a Wix, or even Motorcraft. Your Toyota has a 3/4-16 filter stud so you have a massive selection of quality filters to choose from.

^^^ The Ultra is a proven good filter ... lack of knowing what it really is and negative bias with no basis is your lose.

Is that good/ bad? What pressure do u get with different filters?

If pressure is measured before the filter then lower psi is better. If measured after the filter then higher is better

With a positive displacement oil pump, the pressure will always be the same if the sensor is after the filter. The only time it wouldn't is if the filter is more restrictive AND the pump is in pressure relief (which rarely happens).

It'll drop down to 43 psi if the water temp gets over 200. Don't know what the oil temp is.

so oil filter affects the pressure if the sensor is fitted before the filter?
