Wife and daughter surprised me by taking me to the newly open Jones The Grocer food emporium for lunch this Fathers Day. the best foodstuffs from all over the world. They now have the largest chese room in town. Bought some real Cheddar from Quickes of Cheddar in England. $75 a kilogram (2.2 lbs). Never tasted cheese like it..available all over the world, if you see it buy it!

Mine wasn't that flash, as we had plans, and a 3 year old with tantrums put way to the plans (can't reward anti-social behaviour).

I AM getting the new Iron Maiden CD when it hits the shelves tomorrow.

When are Father's Day and Mother's Day in Oz? In the US and, I believe, Canada, Father's Day is the third Sunday in June, and Mother's Day is the second Sunday in May.

Fathers Day is today 3rd September. Mothers Day I have no idea.

Mum and dad passed much to my chagrin. Course I have a kid. What do you think a Tash (Natasha) is? Anyway what a great day out in ***'s country. Jones the Grocer whch is going to the U.S in the future is awesome. Let's hope it has a branch in Washington Pablo??

We have so many specialty markets here that one chain just went belly up (Larry's Markets). I doubt Jones would survive here, but worth a shot for the consumer.

So you don't honor your wife on Mother's day? Or were you just kidding/being wry? (As in they go all out for you, but you can't even remember her "one" day?)

Yesterday was a bit hot (85°F) in G0D's country, but the evening was perfect. Today looks to be awesome.

I agree. If this Jones comes in and can get the costs down, then maybe they'll have a longer go.

We've been doing the Duvall (wed) and Carnation (tues?) farmers markets. Good and odd stuff. At least it tastes real.

Farmers markets are the go. Jones may not survive in Washington but in Chicago or NY foodie towns it should. Nothing but top of the range and definitely not cheap. Very lucky to have one here in the national capital which is really a very small city (pop 330,000)

Pablo have no idea when Mothers Day is but it is so high profile even a blind man couldn't miss it when it comes around. It's much bigger than Fathers Day here...s
