At the McDonalds near where I work (yea - I occasionally eat the stuff) there are a lot of somewhat well off older people that work there. Not because they need to, but because they need to feel productive and can't stand sitting at home.

Agreed. There aren't always "better" jobs out there - in the case of CNY, but if you stick around long enough, you can get promoted or even hop ship to retail or something and advance through that.
People want to make a lot of money and NOW. Without having to work for it.

When I was working at the McDonalds, there were a few people who were content with what they made. It worked for them.
