Fail-Pro Gaskets

Generally dont have problems with Felpro intake manifold gaskets but I will never sell another felpro gasket in an application that has to seal oil.
Funny, I was going to ask this, too. I was wondering if the "rope" gaskets that rest in a groove like on plastic plenums and just seal air were still ok. Sounds like maybe.

Also, there's nothing to preclude kits from being assembled from differing sources.
Indeed, plain "groove gaskets" are molded in one type of machine and head gaskets, folded metal and other materials, on another.
To me it makes sense to mass produce gaskets on the same machine and ship 'em around the world where needed...where the specific kits are assembled.

Some cheap head gasket is mass produced and poison any kit they're included in.

I am sorry to hear this I have had good luck with their intake kits/gaskets on various platforms.
I have only used their valve cover gaskets on my 3800s. I have not had problems with those either.
I have never used any of their other gaskets. I tend to use OEM for other items.

Have always used FelPro or Victor, never a problem. Last FelPro I used was a top half set on a Forester. 40k miles later still dry.
I have an Odyessy scheduled for a reseal. It has a leaking oil pump and valve cover gaskets. It's getting a timing belt kit at the same time. The valve covers and upper intake are FelPro, the oil pump set is Mahle and the timing kit is Aisan. Also will be using Ultra gray RTV on the oil pump and pan.
I replaced the alternater on this van about month ago because the spool valve above it was leaking oil. The replacement seal was from Dorman, it's still dry. We'll see how long it all stays dry after its done, I'm betting I won't be seeing it again for oil leaks.

Too bad all company's don't care about a quality product anymore. Its just cheaper for them ALL to have their products produced either by some other country, or incompetent employee's, its too bad the good old guys from back in the day are all retired, they are what kept quality good. I don't think it is going to get any better, this is the new norm for us all, junk parts.
So far I have had no issues with Fel-Pro gaskets.

Isn't it odd that all the gaskets you replaced failed, seemingly at the same time?

Could there be an underlying crankcase pressure situation happening?

As @Kurtatron said, I too am amazed that a 32yr/old Previa is still out there doing its thing. Most parts have to be really hard to come by, body, interior, etc.
Nothing else is leaking.

Have not heard of Stone gaskets before. But I’m going to stick to Fel-Pro till I have an issue. It’s hard to find good brands of gaskets besides Fel-Pro. I’ll never use Mahle or Victor Reinz again though. At work I see guys covering every gasket with RTV maybe that’s why we don’t have any comeback though lol.

So I had to look up Fel-Pro gaskets. There what I have always used if given a choice.

They were part of federal mogul, which was acquired a couple times, went bankrupt once. Its now part of Tenneco (think Monroe shocks) but was taken private by some activist investors a few years back - been consolidating manufacturing locations and shutting down plants.

So basically its the same story as Fram filters. Cost cutting and consolidation.

I believe I may switch as well. To what of course is the question.

I don't recall having issues with Fel-Pro, but 1/ haven't had to do a sealing job for some time, 2/ I don't know why but if there was another name brand within reaching distance that one went on.

Maybe all this buying and ruining auto parts companys is part of a huge plan to get rid of DIY and or just plain fixing older cars to get em off the roads.

Funny this thread came up.

I just pulled the valve covers off my motor and noticed many of the bolts were loose on one side.

I replaced this gasket about 3 or 4 years ago and it looks like the gasket had shrunk already. It was a fel pro.

There is no way I left bolts loose when installing

The valve cover on the other side of the motor still had the OEM gasket and was still sealing fine.

Guess I'll source OEM ford gaskets
