It should begin with a letter followed by some numbers. The letter is plant and first two numbers are the year.
Yep the PP Euro is good for both.Think I'm going to return this and go with the Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40. Is the Pennzoil a good choice for both the X5M S63 and the Rolls Royce Ghost V12 N74 ?? Or should I just go to the dealer and get the BMW TwinTurbo LL01 oil? I've read the turbos get really hot in these and the right oil is critical.
Don't return it!So what would be better? Pennzoil Euro 5w40 or 5w30? My X5M book calls for 0w30 ?
Should I care it's a few years old?? It's gotta be at least 3 yrs old?Don't return it!
The formula stayed the same. BMW in 2018 removed all 0W40 and 0W30 from LL01 and LL04 list. Then in 2022 they updated again LL01 and LL04 approvals, this time allowing 0W30 and 0W40. You are wasting your time. You bought oil that is currently on BMW approval list.
I have 10qt of that oil. I actually have 4qt of old canisters from 2020. You bet I will use them this winter after the track season.
Nah, like I said, I have that same batch, and 4qt from 2020. Just shake it well before use.Should I care it's a few years old??
5W-40. Most LL-01 oils are of roughly similar viscosity between 3.5-3.8 HTHS.So what would be better? Pennzoil Euro 5w40 or 5w30? My X5M book calls for 0w30 ?
No. It's not from 2001. It's fine.
I think you are right 2022 334th day. I ordered the same stuff from walmart and mine was from 2023. I still used it in my b58 for 1 interval. Recently switched to mobil 1 esp 5w30.Where would I find the manufacturing code? Here is the side of the box.

Looks like maybe it's from 2022?
Maybe I should try to source one of these instead?
Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40
Motul X-Cess 5W40 GEN2.
Amazon still has the old stock. This is what the current label looks like.I think it is fairly fresh. Not sure why it doesn't have the LL01 cert on it. I used it in my RR Ghost. I ordered the Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w40 to use in my 2021 X5M. Although the book calls for 5w30, I think the 5w40 is a better oil from what I have read.

I've never seen it at any stores near me. I got the pictures for oreillys website. Price and availability is kinda why I went with M1 for my bmws.Where did you find that stuff? I went to Advanced auto, and I'm pretty sure they had the old stock as well.

"European gas" is low-sulfur fuel, similar to the US. Longlife-04 oils are more than suitable here.Isn't that LL-04 more for Diesels and European gas? Or is LL-04 > LL-01 ?
