F-150 payload and towing; within limits?

Look under the receiver for a sticker that has the actual towing capacity on it.

My 2011 F150 Ecoboost XLT, 2x4 had a towing capacity of 11,000+ pounds. Yours is likely similar.

I regularly towed our helicopter dolly, 6,500 pounds total on a 24 foot flatbed trailer. Like it was not even there.
I have the 3.7 V6, super reliable but an absolute slug towing anything

GVWR of my truck is 6800 lbs

Towing capacity is 6,000, payload is 1,558 lbs

Right here I had 800 pounds in the bed, trailer weighs 500 lbs and load on the trailer was 1100.

Am I asking too much?

I have to drive 180 miles with this load. Personal, not for work.

I think you’re perfectly fine. My Mercedes GL450 has a towing capacity of 7500lbs. It’s hauled my whole family of 6, our luggage, and a trailer with two motorcycles and all of my riding gear on it, which weighed approx. 3000lbs. It did fine and I didn’t have the brake controller wired up for it during that trip. That was more than what you’ve got going on with your setup.

For reference, my 2014 Navigator (has a Ford 5.4 3v in it) has a towing capacity of 8500lbs with a payload of 920 after loading it up with the family and our stuff. Our 33ft camper scales at approximately 7500lbs along with hauling our fam of 6. Now I DO use an Equalizer brand 14k weight distribution hitch running 8 washers at the head and a Redarc TowPro Elite brake controller. To give you an idea of what our unladen Navigator weight is with the family and luggage inside is AND the same weight with the camper hooked up, I’ve attached the scale tickets and door placard. The placard on the driver door jamb tells you what you’re capable of from the factory. Unloaded scale tickets and loaded scale tickets tell where you’re at compared to the factory placard. Download the “Weigh my Truck” app from Cat Scales. Make a profile and load your credit card info into it. You can do it all from your phone at a scale. Makes the whole process a piece of cake.

Unladen:
Steer Axle: 3420lb
Drive Axle: 3560lb
Gross: 6980lb (GVWR: 7900lb)
Payload: 7900 - 6980 = 920lb

Laden with camper:
Steer: 3500lb (GVWR: 3700lb)
Drive: 4120lb (GVWR: 4250lb)
Trailer Axles: 6720lb
Gross: 14,340lb

Camper adds 7360 total to the gross. 80lbs to the front axle and 560lbs to the rear.

Made the 185 mile trip just fine, 60 mph the whole way. I do think that it was alot more weight than what I was told. When I got to my destination, I put my hand on the hood and actually burned my hand from the heat. That 3.7 got a good workout.
Good to hear! I’m glad it handled it fine.

You’d burn your hand on a vehicle with white paint here whose engine hasn’t run in days. 🤣 We were at 96 yesterday with a heat index of 109. It’s been oppressive as can be here.
