my truck holds 7 qts of oil and uses none on a 3 or 5k oci.
i like running syn but i know its gonna get in my pocket with the 140 mile commute i take everyday.
any recommendations for an oil and filter and miles for 90% highway use?? longer miles would be better but availability is a big factor so amzoil and others like it are out

motorcraft 5w20 and motorcraft fl820s filter,5 quart jug is 14.00 and filter is 3.50 aat walmart then about another 5.00 for two more single quarts should be good for 5-6k easy.I would run the 5w20 instead of 30w

I would go with M1 5-20EP or 5-30EP, and since it's hyw. miles I would go at least 12-15K OCI. A friend is doing 15-16K with the 5-30EP in his 03 Windstar with great success. 130K, engine is clean through the oil fill hole and running great.

A commute like that is easy on oil.

You can use Castrol Edge, Mobil1 EP or HM, Pennzoil Ultra, RoyalPurple... easily to 10k-12k miles. Save time and money by not changing the oil every 3k.

Can't go wrong with the Motorcraft oil filter. Pennzoil Pureone, Mobil1, RoyalPurple, BoschDistancePlus, Fram XtendedGuard, NapaGold... are some easy choices.

With your location, whether you use 0w20, 5w20, 0w30, 5w30, 10w30 is pretty much not an issue. This will help with the availability of the mentioned brands.

guys thanxs for you suggestions and for the lack of comments about my old comments!
when i first joined this site i was a 3k man and would never use a pennzoil product. but now because of some things i have read and some things i have seen in my own cars i am kind of a pennzoil fan and im more open to longer intervals, especially with my driving habits.
im kind of leaning more towards PP or PU because my wifes car has had such good luck with pennz products but i wiil probably upgrade to a better filter for extended drains. like a m1 or bosch (no one sells pure one here)
im running PU now but i added kreen (i have some varnish issues)so i wont go more than 4 or 5k. anyone have experience with PU and 10k drains??
i would think with 7qts i could go even farther but i dont know if i want to pay for a uoa

+1......5w20 or 5w30 Mobil 1 EP would be perfect for long OCI's...12 to 15k OCI's should be easy.

Filter...Mobil 1 EP, RP or Bosch Distance...should easily be able to handle the above OCI.
