I won't stoop to your level, but stuff like this is why Americans are despised outside your country. And that includes Canada.

Gang, could we just cut it out?

This won't get us anywhere good, it has nothing to do with oil, and it is not my experience that Americans are despised in Canada.

Let's stick to oil!

The answer to your question is he has one for himself, his wife, and his son. All three were custom ordered. No repos here.
I see guys popping wheelies at 70 mph on the freeway around here.

I have owned 11 bikes over the years, the last 9 being sportbikes. Anything from a r6 to an aprilia tuono to a zx10. I just traded my 06 fz1 on a 2003 harley softail. I have owned the harley about 2 weeks now and all I have to say are good things about it. I am really enjoying it and I see the fascination with them now. The only issue I have is the legs forward riding position causes some back pain but I now have a touring seat with backrest on the way so hopefully I will have years of enjoyment out of my softail until I trade up to a roadking.

It is the metric system that is the problem

Well, I read the first half of the thread, which seemed to be going well but I stopped when it started turning into a repeat of the last couple of Harley-bashing threads. My only comment is related to the Harley merchandise that some seem to think is going overboard and is just a fashion statement. I still have the first Harley jacket I ever bought, back in 1996, it looks new and I've had it cleaned once in 13 years. I still have my first engineer boots and leather gloves, bought in 1996. They don't look so new but the boots could pass for 2 years old if I polish them. I bought a pair of gauntlet style gloves about 10-11 years ago and those could still pass for new. And I've been caught in the rain about 40-50 times (AT LEAST!!) including at least four runs of 4-6 hours straight while going to Sturgis and to Ohio.

Both of my bikes are highly modified, both driveline and appearance. I've used parts from Harley and from several aftermarket companies. Some companies are good and some are not. I can honestly say that the vast majority of time, a Harley part is of very high quality.

I am not a 1%er and don't live "the life" 24/7 but I've had good luck with Harley items and have a couple belts that are several years old and have held up well. Even my wallet is about 5 years old and still looks good. I've noticed that many Harley items are now made in China and I am very saddened by this. I refuse to buy those items and therefore have no first-hand experience regarding the quality, but based on my experience with Chinese items in general, I expect very low quality and therefore won't waste my money.

Don't be so quick to judge riders full of Harley gear. Sometimes it is a fashion statement but sometimes it is just a person buying quality (new Chinese items being the possible exception).

Probably true but I doubt it has anything to do with him being in Canada. The Canadians I know are intelligent.

Just like his B-I-L would have the same personality whether he owned an HD or not, borat would be the same regardless of where he was.

Rush... Rush is probably the most awesome band ever assembled, with the most incredible drummer (Neil Peart) who has ever lived. Those guys hail from Toronto.

I love Canada. Most people I've met from the Great White North are pretty awesome folks...

But what? Ths thread started out with the best intentions until Borat had to flame it with his usual anti-American Harley bashing. All he does is continue to do is compare everyone who owns a Harley Davidson to his BIL. So you just did stoop to the same level by telling us that we are despised as if you have a license to do so. None of that is even close to reality.

Don't recall making any derogatory comments against Americans. For your reading pleasure, here's a link to one of your fellow countrymen's sites. This guy makes me look like a saint by comparison. Think of it as a Christmas present from me to you!

You are bashing an American icon that is known and identified worldwide as American. I'm done with thread or any thread you participate in.

When Harley Davidson develops the engineering expertise to manufacture something other than a Big Inch V-Twin cruiser they will earn my business:

Like ATVs, dirtbikes, Personal Watercraft, Outboard engines, lawnmowers, generators, "real" touring bikes like Goldwings, Scooters, minibikes, 6-cylinder engines, V-4 engines, Oval-Pistoned engines, 4-cylinder engines, automobiles, and most of all World Championship Grand Prix (Moto-GP) winning motorcycles. All of these are or have been produced by Honda.

The best Harley can do is make a modern rendition of an 80 year old motorcycle. What a shame......

But HD makes the best rendition of an 80 year old motorcycle. One that is copied ad nauseum by Honda and everyone else. They might not be the fastest or the most modern. But they are the Original. I'll own one someday.

You did stoop to his level.

And I find it typical that those who enjoy the freedom and power that comes from being our neighbor would despise us as you do. Just like the old saying goes, "dont bite the hand that feeds you". Go ahead and despise us, but do it with the full understanding that Canada wouldnt be Canada without the USA to your South. We not only ensure your relative safety, we bear the brunt of the ridicule that comes with that responsibility as well. Enjoy your free ride! Socialists!

I can't speak for whom you were replying to, but I know my view of Harley owners comes directly from my own personal experiences with them, not from movies. A lot of times they don't even have to say anything. I can tell if they have "the attitude" by looking at their eyes when they look at my bike. If they roll their eyes, or they get that I'm better than you cuz I got a Harley and you don't smirk on their face, I can tell they have "the attitude." You'd be surprised how often it happens.

Hopefully, that day will never come.

I find this question very ironic considering it's coming from the side that questions and/or criticizes other people's enjoyments the most.

The "copies" left out the obsolete technology used by HD.
