If I am not mistaken, the older Sears Suburban tractors used a Peerless model 2300 transaxle.
I own a couple John Deere 112 garden tractors with the same transaxle.
John Deere called for sae 90 gear oil on the 1960's when these came out. In later years these units called for 80w90 when used in the 212 in the 1980's.
I used 80w90 in the one used for snow blowing, and 75w140 for my summer use one.

I have rebuilt 2 of these, there is no brass so no worries about corrosion.
Straight cut gears with no synchronizers, mostly needle bearings, with 1 ball bearing on the input shaft.

I agree with Mola, nd30 is a poor lubricant choice.
For PA winter use, I'd go with a 75w90 or 80w90.

I appreciate the advice guys...

I'll probably go with a 75w-90 then. I'm sure any brand should be sufficient? I doubt I need to run Royal Purple when it would probably love Super-Tech, lol.
