Does anybody know much about this engine oil? I have learned it is Japan's largest oil company. I can buy it at my local NAPA and also on Amazon. The reviews I have read have been positive, as they are with most engine oils I read about. Is there anything "special" about it? Here is a link to it:

Nothing truly sticks out. Good pour point but overalls just a good Dexos rated oil

Nothing special.
Mobil 1 ESP 0W20 X2 is way to go for 0W20 off the shelf oils.

I just used the 5-30 version in my daughter’s work car. Typically with Mobil 1 or idemitsu, she’d use a half qt or more in 7500k, but with eneos SP version, it used about half as much. Not scientific by any means but definitely a difference. I may have a jug of the 0-20 but I’d have to look. I ran idemitsu (prbly the same thing) for the 1st 40k in my 21 when new and nothing eventful happened. Good or bad.

We discussed this a lot, but quickly:
GTL/PAO base.
Higher ZDDP content.
Stricter approvals (VW, Mercedes).
I would argue that Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 0W20 may be a better choice for Gasoline Engines under warranty. It carries legitimate API licensing, Dexos 1 approval, a 25K oil drain guarantee and MB 229.71 approval.

Nothing special about Eneos.

I’ve noticed you’ve been researching a lot of different oils from all over recently. I took the same journey a couple years ago. To save you a bunch of time and headaches, I settled on the Mobil 1 ESP line. It rivals some boutiques and is available at Walmart for $27.

I just noticed this afternoon this stuff is on sale right now on Amazon. $27 and some change, IIRC. Seems like a good price.

By the way, Aliexpress' search engine optimisation seems to have quite an interesting use case for Eneos

I haven't used it, but I know people who use it and is very popular in Europe too. It is used there as a cheaper alternative to Mobil, Castrol, and Motul. The two most popular Japanese oils are Eneos and Idemitsu. Eneos is the largest oil company in Japan. Idemitsu usually blends the OEM oils for Honda and Toyota. Eneos has a big variety of PCMO, HDEO and also has 2-stroke oils.

Eneos 0W-16 used oil analysis:

My 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE currently has 16,000+ miles with Ravenol 0w-16 EFE. Previous oil used in 0w-16 were Pennzoil Platinum, Eneos, and Idemitsu IFG7. 3 used oil analysis revealed all previous oils sheared down out of grade and had decreased flashpoint values in 4,000 miles of use. I am at 4,000 miles already on the Ravenol and plan on running it a little bit longer and then get a used oil analysis. If the Ravenol holds up with used oil analysis results then I have found my oil and will extend to 7,500 mile or maybe more oil change intervals.

Eneos and Idemitsu are Japanese oil companies that make and sell excellent ATF & gear/differential oils for Japanese cars. I don't have any experience with their motor oils.

Reminds me of the fascination some have with Liqui Moly because they are a German company. Unless you are chasing a narrow spec oil they offer and specialize in, none of their regular run of the mill API/ISLAC oils are worth the premium because they come from another country.
