I'm in a northern climate and mine is now 6 years old 🤷‍♂️ I'd never even heard of this until you brought it up.
As you can see it’s out there but certainly not all of them. It’s due to improper sealing the seem between the aluminum hood and steel frame of the hood.
I never heard of it either until they delivered one to me!

At the time we then have seen some just walking past vehicles in parking lots. Being aware of it we were checking other jeeps.
I’m not making claims as to “wide spread problems” just that it does happen and known to happen and happen to us. Enough occurrences though that the structure is in place to have the vehicle repaired by bringing it to body shops that have agreements with Jeep to handle it.

Also note I am not making claims as to what climate it is taking place. That is someone else. Since I live in the south I only know the south and what happened to us, along with getting advice from a master mechanic friend in the south and also contacting a body shop who handles claims here.

I had to look up this one. Seems it would do well here in that small crossover EV segment. Odd we didn't get it. I figured they'd call it Renegade or even the new Liberty with this styling. I think it looks nice.

I like that, even the color.

Could 100% be accurate. I could search the interweb for problems on every vehicle made. In the grand scheme a rusty hood is better than a crappy driveline.

I highly suspect that CR reviews are highly influenced by the dealer. Which is why Rivian and Tesla (no dealer) and BMW (you pay for that level of ego stroking and BMW would never tolerate if they didn't) are one through three. I would be very unlikely to buy a Nissan from my local dealer, and at the end of the day thats all that matters. Also why I think they dealer model will vanish, and sooner than later.

The only study worth a darn IMHO is this one. The reason - its actually a quantitative study, not a survey of how someone feels. They say GC's are above average. I believe them. https://www.dashboard-light.com/vehicles/Jeep_Grand_Cherokee.html

This isnt such a bad thing! I want to like the Grand Cherokee. I dont know IF or when I get a newer vehicle again but it will, at least at this point need to tow a boat still and its slim pickings in this size vehicle.

Obviously I really wanted one back then and still like them today. But was tainted because of our experience which would be normal to feel that way. I mean, in my mind our Chevy Traverse with its 5100LB tow rating isnt the pinnacle of realibilty once you cross the 100k mark and I am leary why my check engine light recently came on *LOL* There is something with the timing chains on all these size GM V-6's in the 2017+ range. So far it has been very reliable, I do have a bad feeling from what I understand about that engine light coming on at this particular 95k ish mileage.

I dont disagree but I would dump either vehicle in that case. Since the Jeep was delivered that way with 24,000 miles on it that is exactly why I dumped (returned) it.
I would have returned as well - especially if paying full price. Its shocking the kind of junk dealers want you to overlook on used cars now.

All I am saying is I don't believe CR. Or the Interweb. Or everything posted here - although here does seem to be more accurate - or at least you understand the bias :ROFLMAO:

They also need to look at the brake light issue. I almost hit a Tesla the other day because they slow down so fast without hitting the brake pedal.
There's a reason they still have regular service brakes. The regen is not strong enough for emergency braking.

If you almost hit one, perhaps you need to re-examine your driving habits.

Also, my brake lights come on when regen is happening, regardless of whether or not I have my foot on the brake.

It appears that we can not even go 2 to 4 years without everything (good or bad) our genius politicians contrive (while looking out for themselves mostly), gets abruptly turned on its head and even reversed every time there is either a POTUS or a mid term election and the Yo Yo effect wrings us all out to dry. We have to accept it - like it or not as it is what keeps us a so called Free Nation. It has got to be getting almost impossible for firms to know what to invest and plan for further than every two years because of all the division.
Yes, these radically different policy sets are really an issue for the business environment of this country.

It's almost like foreign nation states are trying to radicalize our country...
