Very sharp!

Picture doesn't do it justice, especially with that dark of a maroon color. It's probably just a really fancy 3-stage / pearl coat with multiple layers of alternating flakes and pearl coats. Good luck with blending repair panels though!

I guess @JeffKeryk blew this one eh?
I can't take all the shots...

But if I may... Elon has long been a fan of German engineering. He fully expects the Germans to improve the cars and make changes pertinent to the German and European market.

The world is playing into his hands... Gasoline costs, global issues. Giga Berlin is an important hedge against China issues.
Tesla beating the Germans in US sales. And not in EVs, all cars. BMW may have outsold Tesla in 2021, or not, depending on whose numbers you believe. Tesla is flat out killing BMW in GM%. That's leverage,

Soon Teslas will not have to be imported to Europe. More cost saving generates even better margins.
More total production to serve the pent up demand. Economies of scale, as they say...

And now they are building in Deutschland, in the most advanced factory in the world.

Tesla definitely needs to offer more than their current 5 color choices. They remind me of when the Miata was first introduced and you could only get red, white or blue with silver coming along a year or two later. I understand that they can't keep up with the demand and adding another half a dozen colors would slow things down but maybe in the next year or two.

Hopefully they won't charge an arm and a leg for optional color upgrades. Some of the colors available on my Jaguar ran well north of $5000 for the custom metallics and pearls !

In my experience, the #1 thing you DON'T want the Germans messing with is PAINT!
How do you figure? BMW, Mercedes, and VWAG all have far nicer paint than their competitors with a few exceptions.

I think Tesla, Honda, and GM are at the very bottom of the barrel.

Not sure if I can agree with that one. Nobody paints like the upscale Germans. The Porsche Taycan I posted earlier had such incredible paint...
Paint is one of the things Musk is counting on the Germans to help him with.

Pretty simple. The last two MBs that I've owned had terrible paint. The 2014 was a little better that my current 2018. It's not thin and rusting like the Tesla paint jobs, just fragile (chips easily) and on close examination plenty of orange peel.
Wken I bought my last Caddy, the dealership next door was MB. When I pointed out the paint flaws on the new Caddy, the salesman took me next door to the MB dealer. He was right, the MB paint was worse then too.

It could be that I'm just too picky about such things, but I WAS considering just a couple days ago to have a paint correction done on the MB. Unfortunately it would likely run over $500.00, so I couldn't justify that.

One has to wonder how much they will charge for these amazing new paint colors. Currently you can order a Model S in 5 colors with only Pearl White Multi-Coat being standard and Solid Black, Midnight Silver Metallic, and Deep Blue Metallic being $2,000 (CAD) options and Red Multi-Coat a $3,300 (CAD) option. For comparison a similarly priced Mercedes S-Class comes in 11 colors with 10 being standard and "designo Diamond White metallic" being a $1,600 (CAD) option.

It’s likely thousands of $$$ for this option and then wait for the cringe when you come out of the store and a shopping cart has decided to run down the side of your new sparkling Tesla.

The body shops will have a field day with this.
