I'd make that you have an oil that stays together with very high heat.
Of course, more wear is going to occur in various car parts and systems. But the damage should be only from increased USE, not abuse.
You paid for it - drive it as you wish.
 
Just a thought, why take a car up to redline anyway? Considering most vehicles make peak HP or Torque way before redline, what sense does it make to take them up to redline? I know in my vehicle peak Torque is made at 2200 rpms, and peak horsepower is at 5200 (redline is 6,000). So I figure keeping rpms down to 5400 max is the way to go. BTW my vehicle is an old Datsun 280zx.
 
Z_ombie has a good point. I noticed that as well - never really thought about it till now. Redline is way past peak horsepower. I've noticed that when I was driving around - so I rarely pass 5,500rpms.

carock: Wow, that aircraft engine is that old? :p Probably a little bit of a difference between that engine and a 2004 ecotec, lol.
