Ecogard s241 Virgin C&P

LoL ... people need to read better and stop playing games and twisting things around is more like it. Just like you having a bad memory that distorts what you "think" I said 10-12 years ago. 😂
Uh huh????….
Anyway what’s your opinion of the topic filter?

I have PG's from both Vietnam and China and I can't tell the difference between them quality wise. A trend that has also been supported here with C/P's.
There is a minor difference, both mechanical and cosmetic. The Vietnam filters have a more stiff brown-ish media whereas the China one is more of a slight dark yellow but also stiff. The center tubes in the Vietnam filter is more cleanly formed and uniformly punched through with even hole spacing. The China filter center tube is more crudely formed with erratic hole punching pattern pitch. Both filters use a different endcap design but same SECC steel formed material. Bypass valve spot weld design and bypass valve face material are different from the varying COO as well (rubber (china) vs plastic (vietnam)). The ADBV silicone and gasket is also different as well but very minor difference visually.

Both media have a strong resin smell, so its no lie that could be a resin based blend as stated at their website. But I believe the formulations are different by appearance which could be from different raw material suppliers.

If you want my opinion, the Vietnam is better made, slightly but both are very good quality filter enough to be even for the average joe. This is comparing the Microgard Select to the STP XL.

Not doubting any of the spot on posts above but personally I think PG-EG are playing it safe and smart.
I don't like screw ups and I would over build the filter and under rate it to avoid liability and those that over extend things like we do here.

I'd make a 20K filter and list it as a 10k or 15k..
Today unlike yesterday the truth comes out.
You can't hide what's inside anymore.
Personally I wouldn't put the 15k rating on the TG and certainly not the 20k rating on the KN select... JMHO
i wont even spin on a EG or a TG. never have never will. the C&P's here just further reinforce my decision.

My last virgin Fram EG PH2 was oil soaked with very brittle media and had delaminated end caps. I believe it was 6 years old but stored indoors.

Read post 16 again. Did you noticed I gave a "like" to the OP? Wow, do I really have to explain things that are so apparent. 😄 You do realize that I recently bought a MicroGard Select (same basic filter) and threw the Motorcraft to the curb for reasons explained in other threads. You really need to stop analyzing your dog and do some more reading to keep up around here. ;)

i cry inside everytime i see someone with a EG in their hands at walmart over the champ built ST filters. im sure it would be fine for someone to run their 3k oil change but i cannot wrap my head around trying to save a few bucks over even a new style ultra or a ST MP series.

Great info thanks.

The PG I’m running now is Vietnam made. I think the EcoGards @Zee09 bullied me into buying are China. 😮. Still waiting on the Amazon man to find out.

The CarQuest Premium in the garage is China too.

I paid the most for the Premium Guard branded Vietnam filter.

No I didn’t realize that you just recently bought a new micro guard filter lol. Am I supposed to know this? You must be really important huh?

I don’t have dog, buddy.

Uhm, Thanks…. I guess……for sharing your opinion of the topic filter???

A strange bird you are, good sir😉

Just goes to show you don't read and keep up, which isn't a very good way to operate if you're going to try jumping on someone and criticize them. You know what I define as "strange" ... people who pop out of nowhere and claim someone said something 10+ years ago, which was totally wrong on their so called "claim" - just like you did about my wavy pleat comment in another thread. Who beside you have operated like that ... I can't recall anyone doing something that ridiculous and strange before. :D

Are they really cheaper than a ST MP?

I just asked what’s your opinion on the topic filter.

At Walmart?
We don’t have them at Walmart here.
I ordered some ecogards from a sale on Amazon a while back for under 2$ each.
I’ve cut 2 open so far. I I used 1 for 7500 miles and the other I used long enough to realize the previous ecogard gasket stuck to the oil filler mount and caused the new gasket to leak 2 quarts out while I was doing my after oil change walk around. It was dark and I didn’t notice the gasket missing off the old filter. First time for me a gasket ever stuck. Obviously it’s my fault for not catching it but I m still holding a grudge.
Other than that the x2222 held up fine. As has been mentioned the cans are heavy duty on those ecogards.the media was not wavy at all but did tear kinda easy when I pushed on it.
I’ll go back to the ecores after these because I think the media is stronger in those. That will take a while though.

Call me Debbie Downer, but now that PG/EG are making excellent quality filters for a reasonable price, how long until First Brands or Mann Hummel buys them out and discontinues the products?
First Brands won't be buying anybody. The BITOG slush fund disappeared..
