2015 A3 2.0t Quattro with the Gen 3 EA888 motor, 0D9 DSG and Gen 5 haldex system. Has almost 100K miles. Supposedly zero maintenance has been done aside from oil changes every 10K and one engine air filter.

Supposedly he has never done a Haldex service (due every 3-years/30K) or a DSG service (due every 40K). What is the likelihood that these two units are going to grenade at this point?

dsgs use a light gear oil, likliehood of going kaboom is around 129,000 miles without any service.

I'd do them both ASAP but what's done is done. I don't think there'd be an impending failure of either unit, despite the lack of maintenance.
i've seen em go kaboom after 120,000 miles, some have some sort of clutch disintegration with the wet clutch ones.

He is having me bring all maintenance up-to-date. Just trying to decide if it is worth doing or just unloading the car altogether.

Based on a preliminary walkaround, it appears to have the infamous water pump/t-stat leak, a broken left-side trunklid wiring harness and needs a brake job (warning light on).

Sounds about right. Not too bad IMO.

Agreed. I expected worse. It might need a walnut blast and timing chains once I take a closer look at the car, but hopefully not.

For now I think we’re looking at $1100 in parts (my cost) and 15 hrs of labor to start.

I'm not familar with servicing the DSG, however I am with the VAQ diff
which uses a Haldex clutch and pump. The clutch pack is supposed to
be robust, but the pump likes to fail if insufficiently maintained. At 100
kmls without an oil change I'd strongly recommend cleaning the Haldex
pump filter screen along with new oil and new fill and drain plugs. Don't
overtighten them (just 13 Nm or so). Haldex oil should be VW G 055 175.
Personally I'm using Ravenol AWD-H fluid.

Concur with the above for the Haldex. Even sour ones can be resurrected if the pump isn’t shot.

the DSG … probably much depends on if he’s heavy-footed or not. If he’s not an aggressive driver, he could get lucky.

I wonder how many people actually stick to 10k recommended intervals. Everyone i know does 5k-7.5k

15 hours of labor and $1100 in parts already... I dunno labor rate by you but assume low end of $100/h. We are at $3k with brakes and a water pump.

Not bad considering the car would be good for another 100k
