Drain Snake

Can someone recommend a really good drain snake? I bought the typical non attachment snake from home depot and it could not get enough inertia to unclog a block in my drain. I was so frustrated that I had to call a plumber. He had a unit that was powered and he took the clog out in less than two minutes. $150 for the fix.
I see that Home depot has something like what he used for around $200.
Since I anticipate many more clogs in my lifetime, I was considering splurging on a better snake.
Any recommendations?

Pour some bleach into the drain. Fill up the drain to the point where it slowly drains (with water) and take a new plunger to it. People warn that it can bust a pipe but iv done it virtually my whole life and iv never encountered a drain I couldn't unclog withing 1-2 mins.

Decent power rodders can be had on ebay or cl.

A 5/8 cable and head are the best way to go for sinks, tubs etc.

Where was it plugged? I know nothing about drain snakes.
The drain holes in my bathroom, laundry room and kitchen sinks are small. Do they make a snake-end that opens once it get past the small holes?

Yes they sell them with the head small enough to fit in a typical sink, laundry room etc.

Now that you have the drain unplugged, consider using an enzyme powder monthly in your drains. I get mine at HD and it is the Zep 'drain care' brand. An ounce of prevention.......
