Domino's thoughts.....

Quite a few positive references to Marcos pizza in this thread. I would like to try their pizza if ever the opportunity arises.

It's just another chain (highly processed ingredients) and probably not what you're looking for. It's good, but I find that different pizza is typically "good". At home, we try and rotate through our different choices. At work, the boss always gets Domino's.... After the couple years that I worked there and ate it soooooo often, I have never bought Domino's since ! 😂

Overpriced. Especially after my town adds a 10% prepared food tax then delivery fee and tip. Even with a coupon, never less than $22

Higher end frozen from grocery store is better. Keep one on hand, ready in about the same time as even the fastest take out. (Just have to watch the Sodium and Calories)
Prepared 10% food tax ? Lol

We eat Domino’s Pizza 🍕 quite often, it’s right by the house and LITTLE CAESARS. Also, the only reason we’re going to Domino’s is because they have the deal right now you can’t beat a three meet from LITTLE CAESARS. We have one that is here local that is awesome or their Supremes they run about 12 bucks each.

Almost every Thursday at 6:15 I pop in to Dominos to pick up our medium pan pizza ordered online with a coupon. I don't say my name since they are expected to know me, even if they are new there. It is all in fun and someone else will chime in with my name. As I leave someone always says, "See you next Thursday."

I just grabbed a small cheese pizza from Dominos, it’s half price Monday! 🤓 As always I order it with less sauce. This one turned out great as always, nice thick crust and they put more cheese than normal on it even though I didn’t order extra cheese. So good! 😋 I ate 4 slices for lunch and I will eat the last two for dinner

Dirty secret about "extra cheese", at least with some places, they put a little bit of cheese on the sauce, then the ingredients, then the rest of the cheese on top. It's just a single serving instead of two like you paid for. One time a regional supervisor was in the store and he was a great guy and even chipped in helping make pizzas. Someone did that extra cheese trick and he stopped them asking "what is that?". He reminded us to always give them what they paid for and fixed that pizza. I'll tell you this, double cheese is a LOT ! Still to this day though, I never bother ordering extra cheese (and paying for it) since about every place still shorts you.

I never bother with the extra cheese since the location near me is never stingy with the cheese 🤘

I think my standard has gone up as I age and as I have eaten too many working overtime free meal pizza. Dominos would be what I called a standard medium quality American pizza, not something super great but not garbage like Little Caesar or Pizza Hut (Pizza Hut in the US is way worse than Pizza Hut in Asia which is ok).

For me a great pizza today would be like Mountain Mike or Mod's, etc. In NYC probably no bad ones but out in the West Coast we have lower quality pizza, and Dominos would be an average OK.

Maybe it's my interpretation, but Mod or Mountain Mike's are fairly mid pizzas to me. My standard is some of the really good independent places. Like Tony's Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco or Rose Pizzeria in Berkeley. Tony Gemignani has small empire though including Slice House locations, mostly in the Bay Area.

But I have no problem with Domino's. At least if you order the specials, you get your money's worth. You can also be in some random location in the United States and you'll know exactly what you're getting rather than guessing if some local joint is any good.

We go by two different Marco's locations on our way to Blue Springs. Rarely anyone there. Must be surviving on delivery and carry out.

Had a double pepperoni Tavern Style from the HUT Saturday night. It was perfect, crisp non tough crust, the edges were wonderful. The pepperoni was not burned to a crisp. They are dusting these with herbs that are good and not overpowering. $17.18 with 3 toppings. That's a $4 (30%) price increase in the last month.

Yeah, it's a total rip off, actually higher than 10% in many cases: "Meals Excise Tax" they call it plus VA 5.3% sales tax...

Funny, I cannot recall my elected representatives running this by me or putting it to a vote????

Restaurant/Food Establishment

Any place, in the City of Winchester, in or from which food or food products are prepared, packaged, sold or distributed. A restaurant is any eating or drinking establishment-whether stationary or mobile, temporary or permanent- that is primarily engaged in the business of selling meals for which a charge is made.

Examples include: Cafes, Cafeterias, Canteen trucks or wagons, Catering Businesses, Bars, Coffee Shops, Diners, Dining Rooms, including Hotel and Motel dining rooms, Ice cream or other food product stands, Lunch counters, Private or Social Clubs, Salad bars, Snack Bars, Street Carts and Food Trucks.
...

What is the City Excise tax on meals?

... has levied a 6.5% tax...

For guys that can change the oil in their own cars, making your own pizza is child's play...

Buy a 3/8" thick pizza steel from eBay. Mine is 15" square.

The only semi difficult part is making the dough. You can buy dough from Trader Joes or similar, if you can't be bothered.

I make my own dough. It's easy following tons of online recipes.

For sauce, you can buy pizza sauce complete, or get tomato sauce from Amazon or Costco, and make your own. I like to make my own sauce: tomato sauce, add fresh garlic, onion, dried oregano, basil, whatever you like.

One other key trick: I have two peels. A wood/bambo peel, that i build pizza's on, and use to load the pie into the oven. And a second peel with a metal blade, used to remove hot pizza's. For building, spread corn starch on the peel, so your freshly build pie will slide off easily into the oven.

Honestly, so super easy, and fast.

A regular oven is fine. Turn up the oven to the max temp, and preheat for 30 minutes. My oven reaches 550F, and that's fine.

Get your ingredients from Costco, and you can make a pie for little cost or effort.

A few years ago in Tokyo, we picked up a small 10" pizza at the local Dominos pizza. Pineapple and Ham for $60. It was one of the best pizzas I have eaten, outside of a few coal pies from NYC and Chicago.

Here is another entertaining review from the fast food reviewer "The Report of the Week." He has not had luck with some of the recent Dominos offerings . . .

I noticed that too.
I've seen a billboard or two for Marco's, just like their TV ads.
Maybe I've seen one Marco's at a strip mall somewhere during a run to Virginia possibly.

The point is that now I must Google their site and see where they are.

(tik-tok) ..well, they ain't in the Northeast except for Pennsylvania.
Their appear to go into a region and saturate the neighborhood as some of the pointers have 2, 14 etc. written in them and some say "99+"
