Domino's thoughts.....

Dominos in my opinion is the best pizza. By far the most flavorful. I can’t eat places like Mellow Mushroom or pizza at local places it’s just not as good as Dominos. But I usually only eat thin crust. I hate crust at all places. And please hold the garlic on the crust that makes it awful and dad is allergic to garlic. I can’t do Papa John’s because their sauce is horrible. Little Caesers is my second choice. Then Pizza Hut.
Some people think mcdonalds fillet o fish is the best fish too :sneaky: ... and that is ok.:giggle:

So growing up I used to eat a lot of Dominos pizza. They tasted good back then. They even had the 30 minute delivery guarantee and I scored free pizza a few times. However every time I try them again I am disappointed with how they taste. If I want cheap pizza I will go with a Little Caesars or Hungry Howie's.

How about you all? Is Domino's good to you? Ever score a free one?
Rarely. There are so many local gourmet pizza restaurants close to me it's tough to order a chain pizza.

We get it on occasion but too salty for me. If I'm going to go with fast food pizza I'd prefer Little Caesars or Pizza Hut over Dominos, at least around here.

I graduated high school in 1987 , okay I'm no spring chicken . Girl I dated father had 17 Little Caesars . He did very well for himself. Back then a large pizza his cost including labor, overhead was .27 cents . Talk about a cash cow . Min wage was 3.35 a hour .

Many decades ago in college, I felt Domino’s was a good value and really didn’t know any better. Their pizza had its purpose. Now compared to non franchise pizza joints side by side, the one thing you’ll notice right away is the texture of the crust has no pull or chew to it. Kinda just crumbles in your mouth. Unfortunately if you never had well known pizza from NY, CT, NJ…you’ll get use to it and think Domino’s is good. However, I was lucky enough to have pizza in Rome and Naples and absolutely blows my mind the difference in taste, texture, cost over there compared to what deem as great pizza here.

I think a question might be, does Dominos, Little Ceaser, etc-- use any ingredients different than a mass production frozen pizza.

If Domino's and Little Caesars ingredients are the same as a mass production frozen pizza, other than convenience, why not just buy a frozen mass production pizza?

Somebody brought some over several days ago. It came from over an hour away so it was mostly cold. My main feeling about it was it seems like the quality of the cheese wasn't what I remember from years past.

It is most reasonable to assume that major pizza chains use a pre, highly processed cheese product, rather than a mix of different fat content mozzarella cheese, grated from whole cheese blocks, and combined, in a store daily like many small pizza shops in places like the greater NYC area likely do.

I managed a Domino's location many years ago when I was young. I can tell you that back then, nothing we used was frozen. I challenge anyone to show a high-volume pizza place that doesn't use canned vegetables, canned sauce, and so on.

And this Domino's franchise group had us track (3) things on a daily basis - labor, fuel, and cheese. The cheese Domino's used back then was pretty good quality and by far the most expensive ingredient.

Domino's "fresh ingredients" used today may in fact be considerably worse than the same ingredients used in frozen pizza.

For example, I highly suspect the "fresh vegetables "Domino's uses are cut and processed in a commissary many miles from Domino stores. No green peppers and the like are being cut at a Domino's store.

Furthermore- it is resonable to assume the vegetables on a Domino's pizza contain one or more of the following:
To keep vegetables fresh, chemicals like chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, and trisodium phosphate are used to kill microorganisms that cause spoilage and extend shelf life

Finally, the highly processed cheese product used today by almost every major pizza chain likely was not even dreamed of when you managed a Domino's.

I worked as a delivery guy back in the day for a short while at a large pizza chain, and learned that 90% of issues are caused by store staff. Management differed greatly from store to store.
As for Domino's, local store where I live is great, staff is great and they make nice pizzas. There is another privately owned pizza place in the area that is a bit better and little more expensive but their hours are restrictive and they are always super busy thus affecting order pickup or delivery times.
