im sure this has been seen before. And i know valvoline called out mobil for their oil not actually meeting the test required. But do these types of things hold any weight?
I mean why not accept the challenge if you think you can beat them? Whats your thoughts?

I have seen similar test at dealership from vendors. I always question these test as an engine uses pressure and as well as clearance. Not one engine that I know of has metal to metal contact except at start up. So essentially the test are for start up or if engine runs out of oil. Additives in certain oil coat the metals to avoid this so that is a factor in oil choices. When oil additive ages or breaks down it doesn't flow well as well and this causes problems. That is the reason I change oil at or around 5K. Yes I know hwy is better but engines have to be in excellent shape to sustain longer oil change intervals. I have seen 3k oil changes on hwy vehicle have 200k miles and be sludged up not so much as oil but from lack of other maintenance. Engines have tolerances so close that it shears the oil as well now they have eliminated bearings that hold the overhead cams in so strong additives are needed.

Maybe they are still thinking about it.

The other oil companies are just waiting for the right time to pounce.

OMG, ridiculous!

But it's pure fluff anyway, wouldn't sway me at all...

How do you know that? I hate articles with no date attached.
