STP XL Was a No-go on my 6.4 Ram

Don't think Champion Labs had any satellite factories in China when they were still operating under First Brands.
This was obviously before First Brands, but there use to be a Champion Labs rep that was a member here like 20+ years ago (name escapes me) that mention Champion Labs had a factory in China. Company has changed hands a couple times since then, so no clue if that China factory survived those ownership changes to include supplying product for them.

Yeah.. before First Brands.. right ?

You guys should read up on their history.. pretty cool stuff IMO : https://www.champlabs.com/company/about-champion-laboratories/

Been benefiting from the STP filter/Mobil 1 ESP 0W30 bundle for a previous couple of years until the "special" at Autozone was discontinued. At start up engines tick sometimes, but not other times. No discernable pattern. Both cartridge filter, an older BMW 3 series and a more recent Mercedes GLC300.

Ran across this video where they tear down a failed Dodge Hemi engine and pretty near blame the STP filter, seen clearly at the 28:09 and 32:43 mark, for the failure. Can't make out what type of STP or mfr it is though.

Champ?

Champ?

Yeah .. looks to me like the: 1. One of the Fram/Champ baseplates... 2. Fram/Champ glued seam.... 3. Fram/Champ stuck on leafspring

I saw nothing which would directly lead me to believe the oil filter was the root cause of failure. The engine was a reman, and he did mention that human error also could have played a part. Depending on the reman company, some don't have the best reputations.
