DIY Firearms Lube : M1 Grease + M1 Oil ?

I don't use anything beyond this as it leaves a very light lubricating residue. YMMV
A “light lubricating residue” is not the appropriate way to grease an M1. It uses grease. That’s what we were talking about.

The OP was talking about ARs, and a “light lubricating residue” isn’t what I would want in that, either.

Ed’s Red was intended as a bore cleaner. Bore cleaner is not equal to lubricant.

A light film of oil that is just enough to prevent corrosion is great in a bore, but insufficient for many actual lubrication purposes.

I like to use Mobil One 15w40. It's thick enough that there's no need to mix with grease. It works great. 20w50 would probably also work great. Likely also 15w or 20w, maybe 30w.

Don’t over look M1 20W50 V-Twin Motorcycle oil used alone or mixed with STP blue bottle and Dexron VI ATF .
