Different oil filter

I was reading that a guy with a 2001 and a 2003 Suburban said he accidentally used a FRAM XG3506 oil filter instead of his usual FRAM XG3575. Using the same oil brand, the use of the "other" filter (the XG3506) stopped the engine's Cold Start Piston Slap.

My question is 3-fold. I have a 1997 LT1 350 Pontiac Firebird Formula. The recommended filter is the FRAM PH30.

Can use the XG3506 oil filter on my '97 LT1?

If not, what is it about the XG3506 as opposed to the XG3575 that eliminates his piston slap?

Can an alternate filter be recommended with similar characteristics to the differences in the above filter that would work on my 97 LT1 engine?

Piston slap is very common on these GM engines. It has nothing to do with an oil filter. Don't believe everything you read on the interweb.

Yeah, I have my doubts about that too. Cold piston slap isn't going to be helped by the oil or filter.
Oh, and the 3506 is the same as a 3675 just the latter is larger (longer). No internal difference.

The cure is a crate motor, not an oil filter.

GM isn't the only one with PS, all brands have had this issue and it's nothing to be concerned about plenty of engines with PS have gone hundreds of thousands of miles just fine.

Change your oil regularly and run'er!!
