Looking at Edge to try in M62 engine

03037 and 03087. When I pull up the spec sheet on Edge on Castrols site, their only seems to exist 1 variant of EP 5W30.
What am I amiss

Nothing. Not a extended drain ....just bored at the wifes ride. Figure I do something different to keep me engaged....

Got the VC powdercoated in wrinkled black recently, just to keep the mod factor - engagement going on...

The EP seems to be a resource conserving 5W30 unless I'm mistaken (HTHS 2.9 from PDS)?

Can't find the specs on the Euro flavor but if it's A3/B4 and LL01 then it's going to have a HTHS of 3.5

Depends if you like weak sauce or a more robust flavor?

A very appealing lube in it's Euro form no doubt, but so far I've never seen it in the wild, and it likely offers no advantages over the widely available Edge Euro 0w40 anyway.

Doesn't say anything about "euro" on that pds unless I skimmed over it. Do your bottles says euro??

That is the normal Edge we get in Australia. Doesn't say anything about 'euro' on the bottle. Or are you guys calling it euro because of the A3/B4 and other specs?

Almost identical. So they must just call it European formula over in the USA to sound fancy. What important specs does the edge A3/B4 not meet? Porsche A40? It has LL01, MB229.5, A3/B4. Not many 5w30 have all those.

I see. It would probably do ok as hths is so close to SHU 5w40 which is 3.6

This edge is like an extra light 40 grade.

It's the correct sheet, as SR5 pointed out. Castrol in North America, in addition to listing A3/B4 right in the product name, also tends to list "North American" or "European" or something similar on bottles where there may be ambiguity based solely on viscosity grade. I've seen 5w30 SN/GF-5 Edge bottles here with "North American" to distinguish them from the A3/B4 versions.

There was more than enough confusion several years ago with people running 0w-30 ILSAC Castrol in VW engines that should have been using GC 0w-30 A3/B4, so the labelling is intentional. No one in North America, aside from a BITOGer, looks beyond the 5w30 when they buy oil, which makes them likely to pick up City Star and other PQIA Hall of Shame varieties, let alone the A3/B4 they should actually be using.

I know way too many "car guys" here who state that a 5w30 is just a 5w30 no matter what.
