There must be more to the picture.
Do any of you know or remember people growing up on farms who ate eggs, meat, lard, etc. every day - and ate them in quantities like a Roman General?
And lived to be 90 with no health problems?
Something is different now.
 
Yes, a huge factor is exercise. Fat burned for energy doesn't clog arteries. My mother's family had 4 full time farming families. I saw a lot of that life in the 50's.

Preservatives and chemical processing of foods? In addition to feeding waste products, antibiotics and growth hormones to animals... Maybe genetically modified foods as well?

Unfortunately there is little funding for independent scientists to study potential health problems caused by all these experiments on our health. And there is plenty of money supplied by the companies profiting from these "advancements/efficiencies" to do bogus research denying that any of these could be a "significant" health problem.
Look how long it took to finally pin the health problems caused by smoking to big tobacco... And that link was pretty obvious...
