Believe it or not, my neighbor was bragging to me one day about how much "drop" he had on his hitch. I was not particularly impressed because I didn't know I was supposed to be.

Not just childish, but dangerous. People who pull that kind of [censored] have no business being on the road. A lawsuit may be the only thing short of a nasty car accident that gets their attention.

It would get their attention and I'm sure you could find an attorney to easily win that case.

'assault' via illegally modified exhaust system. Diesel exhaust is full of carcinogenic pollutants. People used to kill themselves with gas exhaust. A driver that deliberately smokes you out through your open window - you'd need good footage of the event, but I could see the case won easily.

I have a word for these folks, but I doubt Helen will me to print it.

We get these morons here, too. They're usually easy to spot, and we often have little enough traffic that it's easy to get alongside them at a traffic light, where they often like to do it when it goes green. Diesels aren't as slow as they used to be, but they're still ridiculously pathetic compared to the G. A half throttle blast leaves them near their own cloud, all by themselves, while I'm half a block away.

If properly set up they can be as quick as a lightning bolt! Amazing hp and torque numbers, and straight line performance that can eat my car alive!

We get some of that here in indiana (imagine that). I have never been a victim of the tail pipe in the window trick though. Probably the closest I came to that was back in the '70s when the two stroke Detroit Deisel GMC buss tail pipes used to exit below the bumper and blow in your face. I have run across a few seriously tuned trucks that were really fast, and I can appreciate that, but those are few and far between. Seems that most if these guy's mods only go to the extent of make a lot of black smoke and noise. I certainly don't want to see a time when a person can't do anything to their vehicle in terms of mods, but this type of over the top stuff gets unwanted attention. There are some other groups out there that are ruining things for others too. See California's new motorcycle exhaust law for one. It has been illegal to tamper waith the exhaust for decades, but some unwanted attention has resulted in legislative action. Here in Indiana, you can be ticketed for excess polution if a cop sees you roll coal, or anything else that causes your vehicle to smoke excessively.

We bought a Smarty brand tuner for our cummins because it is one of if not the cleanest canned tunes. Yes, we can wash the cylinder walls down with fuel, have excessively high EGT's and 'roll the coal' as the idiots call it. We chose to not do this nonsense and act responsibly. At full load under acceleration our truck puts out a very slight haze.

If some jerk roll coaled me...

I would follow the to their destination and patiently wait for them to go inside, then I would do a key job on their baby.

Why? Isn't that sinking to their level, if not further?

That's an EXCELLENT way to end up in prison...or shot dead!

Vandalism should be punished horribly...Singapore is too lenient on vandals.

I've seen them cloud up entire intersections, to the point where it has made it difficult for traffic to see. I've also seen guys do it to kids standing out for the bus. These idiots are the reason the EPA has mandated all the new emissions stuff on diesel trucks. Not that it matters though, all these fools just cut that stuff off with few consequences. These guys give all diesel pickup owners a bad rep. I know a few hard working folks who use their stock diesel trucks for lots of hard work. The "coal rollers" are usually 16 year old kids with more of daddy's money than sense, or D-bags who need to feel cool.

They are a real problem around here and are worse than the ricer street racers. I've witnessed these guys driving over private property, passing people illegally, and endangering other drivers. It doesn't help that their vehicles usually weigh a lot, so they have the mind set that even if they pass a car around a corner, the oncoming car will move for them.

Society has to be less tolerant of idiots like this.

More often than not, its geared towards morons driving cars like a Prius. That diesel truck is still far less of an impact on the environment than a Prius owner. I'll sometimes drop a couple gears and floor it next to or in front of a Prius driver. Makes me feel good that I'm using a little bit of the earth that they're stealing with their smug.

It only takes me 5-6 seconds with my keys to return the favor to the paint of the guy's truck that smoked me.

Trust me, he won't think its cute to smoke fellow drivers on the roadways.

It only takes a few milliseconds for him to put a .38 Special through your guts!

I would really like to see some data that says a Prius is more environmentally harmful than a big truck. I see ignorant rednecks say this all the time without any proof. It seems they say it to rationalize to themselves, and to justify to others why they drive around such a ridiculous and needlessly huge vehicle.
You admit to smoking out other drivers because you think they're smug, even though you’ve never met them before. Seems pretty unfair to stereotype all Prius drivers as smug hippies. Maybe they bought it because they don’t like spending half their paychecks on fuel? Everyone who drives a big diesel truck is a stupid douche who has a small wiener, like you. How did it feel to be stereotyped and attacked by a total stranger? That’s what you’re doing to Prius drivers.

Glass packs on diesels are far worse than rollin' coal. Just spent 4 days at the MO State fair.. those little boys liked those glass packs.
