Did Motorcraft Mercon V go back to red bottles?

OK--so I did the searches here, and if I read correctly, the 'original' flavor of Motorcraft Mercon V came in red bottles, then their new (back in around 2006) and improved version changed to black bottles. So I call today to see if the Ford dealer has it and what color the bottle is, and he says yes they have it and the bottle is red. Did Ford go back to red bottles for the Merc V??? or is it just really old stock?
Sidenote: I'm putting this in a 1998 CD4E trans and I want the newer formula that supposedly is more compatable with the older cd4e's. So, what's the deal?

Yes, back to red ConocoPhilips bottles.

Did you happen to ask the Ford dealer how much a quart is these days? (I'll be needing some Mercon V shortly and curious what price you were quoted.)

He said $4.50/qt. I asked for a gallon price and he said they only carried quarts.

They're still black here, but then again so are the motor oils bottles. Maybe the black is color coded for exports, don't know.

They can order it in gallons, but they have to buy the gallon jugs 6 at a time. We only carry it in quarts. XT-5-GM for the gallon jug.

$5.06 per quart....at my local Ford Stealership.

I'm considering a full Syn (Mobil 1 ATF) instead of Mercon V in my Ford Focus.

Well, my local dealer IS stealing as they charge $6.90 a quart...which is why I won't buy from them anymore.
