Did Lube Control Make My Oil Thin?

In another thread I had a couple of UOAs where the 5W20 in my Mercury Sable's Duratec engine thinned out to what, as far as I can tell, is the lowest CST @ 100 viscosity we've ever seen a 20-wt UOA get down to. The oil was 7.25 CST @ 100 in one UOA and 7.55 in another.

Someone suggested that I might have been overusing Lube Control and overly thinning my oil.
I add Lube Control to my car on the following schedule:
At oil change, 4 fluid ounces
The First Time Odometer Crosses an Even 1000 Miles: 1 fluid ounce
2nd Time Odometer Crosses an Even 1000 Miles: 1 Fluid Ounce
3rd Time Odometer Crosses an Even 1000 Miles: 1 Fluid Ounce
4th Time Odometer Crosses an Even 1000 Miles: 1 Fluid Ounce

So, should I cut back my LC dosage? Is the 1 Fl OZ per 1000 miles engineered for semis and not Mercury Sables?

I would not be concerned. 20 weight is supposed to be about 6 cst to 9.5 cst, you are about in the middle.

According to your analysis, your wear metals are LESS with MORE LC.

Try the next run without LC and see if the oil still shears down to 7.5 cSt.

Next run without LC? But.. but... it's so cool. And makes me feel so well-protected
I suppose I can, in the name of science, and in the hopes of proving something.
Too bad my next change will be SM and not SL. If it doesn't shear sans LC, I might blame the new formulation for the difference...
It looks like the only statistically significant wear metal difference between my various oil samples was iron, and that in only the most recent UOA.
Iron 8 / 14 / 15

Out of curiousity, has anyone actually seen a 5W20 shear below 7.25 CST @ 100? I think that's a record.
