Denso oil filters vs motorcraft 400s

I use an oversized filter in my app, either denso, motorcraft, or purolator classic.

The densos I have to order for 4ish bucks.
Construction feels most solid. A very heavy filter.
Same reduced size as 400s.

The 400s is 3.79.
It works...easier to get on than the longer purolator.

The purolator is 2.99.
Largest, cheapest, hardest to install remove due to true 1/4 inch of clearance.

Just used up my stock of 400s and am progressing into my densos. Who makes them? Performance?

Thoughts on any?

From now on it will see Mobil super 5000 high mileage 5w30...anywhere from 3k miles to manufacturer recommended 7500 mile interval. Depends on if I get bored.

I thought that Champion Labs made the Denso Filter but, this may have changed in the past couple of years.

I believe that Denso is as good of a filter as the others you mentioned but, this is always application specific. All 3 filters mentioned are good filters and held in high regard here at Bob's

Use the filter that is the easiest to purchace, install & remove. And even on the older vehicles in your signature, you should be able to extend the OCI's out to 5000 miles instead of 3000 miles but, others will chime in on this information too

Suzuki recommended 7500 miles back in the day on Dino.

But if I get bored and I'm in the shop... something is getting worked on.

I love working in the garage/shop! I don't care what it is. I'll even try to fix an old toaster for someone at my work bench, just for somthing to do.

I love my work bench. It has all my tools, bench grinder/sander with other polishing adapters and my large bench vise/anval. I built it myself and it's an animal/really strong!

Motorcraft filter is the way to go. MC+ MSHM is a great combo.

IIRC Toyota owns a good chunk of Denso. The Toyota snd Denso's are the hardest to remove as the cans are VERY slick. I like Pure One's because of the grippy stuff on the cans. One less tool needed.

The Tacoma is quietest on startup when I use a Toyota Filter or the Denso branded equivalent. Although I have used plenty of Purolators also, and they tend to be a bit noisier on startup. Were only talking slightly here not night and day. And those Motorcraft's are Purolator's.

I agree about the Denso's are hard to find at a good price.
the ones I had (last one is on the truck now) I got for about $4 on Amazon, but they are about $7 now.

True the Motorcrafts are made by Puro but definitely not the same breed of cat, especially at start up. If your vehicle takes the FL-400s I'd bet it would easily rival the Denso for great start ups, and likely has much better efficiency than the Denso as well.

I don't think Champ ever made filters for Denso. Last I knew, they had their own plants. Maybe you're thinking of the Toyota TRD filters, that ARE made by Champ?

IIRC the TRD filter is about the same as a Mobil 1 or K&N and made in the USA by Champ.

Yes.

I don't know anything about Denso, but the PL 10241 and PH3614 cross to the Motorcraft FL-910s. You can also use the longer FL-400s if you have room, it is identical to the FL-910s in every way except length. The FL-910s is the direct cross though and a fine, albeit smaller, filter.

The PH3614 crosses to a Motorcraft FL793.

I would check the bypass pressures on the FL793 and FL910S and go with whichever is closest to the OEM rating.

What is an FL793, some obsolete filter? The cross for the PH3614 is the FL-910s, I know cause I'm a Motorcraft nut and one of our vehicles uses them as well, my son's Sebring.
