Density of motor oil

The one thing that always seems to come up when looking at the technical data of an oil is density. What does this even mean and why would we care about it? It’s always felt like a meaningless piece of information to give us.
Apart from needing it to convert back and forth between KV and DV, it's not especially useful.

I do think a denser oil probably carries heat a bit more effectively, but I doubt the difference is large enough to measure or amount to anything.

I haven't cared for the density. Maybe it's a way to qualify the base oil. Is 10W30 conventional denser than 0W20 synthetic?

Just a rhetorical question because it doesn't matter anyway.;)

Density changes with temperature BTW. Oil expands in volume as it's heated. Same mass but larger volume. The trucker knows. So density goes down with increased temperature.
