Purchased said filter at Advance Auto tonight. I always open the box and check the gasket and for dents. Filter looked OK.
Get home, put filter on work bench. Hear rattling noise. Take filter out of box and shake it. Sure enough...there's a piece of metal rattling around in the base! Sounds fairly large too! Needless to say this filter is going back tomorrow. And replacement will get a complete "shakedown" before leaving store.
I'm very disappointed. I know every manufacturer isn't perfect. But to have a Purolator filter with that kind of serious defect makes me wonder.
