I found a couple of these filters in the clearance section at tractor supply. I put one on my jeep a couple weeks ago.

Every morning the engine would rattle when started. Something it doesn't normally do.

After 300 miles I let it sit overnight and took the filter off. It had very little oil in it so the valve was leaking back.

I put a made in Vietnam microgard on it and that stopped the morning rattles

I cut the Purolator open tonight. The element looks great and the silicone anti drain valve looked ok. I burned it and it's silicone.

But for some reason it didn't seal. I didn't see any obvious reason. Filter actually looks good. Can is pretty thick. .038.

Looks like a quality piece except for the oil draining overnight . Got a couple of pics. Not much excitement here

The Boss has had problems with slits in their ADBVs for years, even before the Boss came out. Its predecessor, the Purolator Synthetic, back when Kmart was still around, still had that problem with the ADBV :sneaky:

Are you sure the ADBV didn't tear? :sneaky:

It happens with every brand once in a while.. A couple weeks ago, I ran into the same issue with a newly installed Fram Extraguard PH8A . Changed it out with a Motorcraft FL1A from my stash and everything is good now. Not a big deal.
