Of all of my cars, the E430 has synthetic all of its life, it was M1 0W40 the first 8 years and xW20 the last 4 years, the last oil change with 5 qt M1 0W20 with 2 qt M1 0W40 with 6 oz VSOT.

The other cars had syn and dino depends which oil I had on hand.

You can use either PYB or any syn, as long as don't go so long with PYB, 6-7k miles OCI is probably the limit.

just man up and decide. to me, its a simple choice of economics between types of oil. i do not care if my car lasts 10 years, or 15 years. Its just a stupid car.

That's the way to look at it. If you find a synthetic you like at a decent price, by all means, go for it. You certainly won't have any problems using conventional, either. Heck, even I get tempted towards synthetic once in a while, but I'm staying strong. :P

hi lemonde, I also use fram extra guard with chevron supreme. The oil doesn't look good at 5k..

5k miles are highway miles..

I will never use fram extra, or fram tough guard on any of my car.
