Crosby stills and nash

Young kinda sucked later in life but that shouldn’t detract from the thread.
Your right. I think Young got into a little too much ACID later in life but I thought the band got better when he joined them. Young's greatest album was "Harvest". After that I think he went down hill.

Yep, that was my free spirit hippie days and I'm old enough to remember hearing them.

I'm pretty sure he was a heroin addict at one point.
Another of the great harmony trios, maybe a little earlier, was Peter, Paul and Mary.
Don't forget the Mamas and the Papas.....

Just finished the live album Four Way Street. When I was younger I preferred the studio versions of songs. Usually better. I now appreciate the live concert versions. Brings the sense of “being there”. Also neat to realize all those concert goers are old like me! lol

I’m not old enough to remember them when they were good but I love them on vinyl. Anyone here enjoy this band?

Great band. Stills was great in Buffalo Springfield as well. Lots of good stuff, during that time. Poco never got the credit they deserved.

I’ve really enjoyed them over the years and attended 2 of their concerts. Sad about the internal friction that forced then to disband.

Kent State. Ohio national guard was sent in to quell student protests. With live ammunition. Rest the song explains.

We might remember that before the national guard is deployed into US cities.

I was a junior in high school. The US had a draft and what happened in Vietnam was on the nightly news. Everyone knew someone who was killed in Vietnam.

I was a senior in high school. Eligible for the draft. Still have my card. Between college and dental school, the war was over as was the draft.

One of my first 8 tracks was Deja Vu. CSN and CSN&Y were great while they could stand each other. Saw Stills twice with Manassas, once at Milwaukee Summerfest, the year after George Carlin made big news there. That was a great band.

Wooden Ships is in my top 5 songs. Of all time. Listen to the song on a very good system That warm guitar sound is unmatched. Buck Dharma in Last Days of May comes close.
Have to agree with both. Stills was an amazing player himself and often handled a 12 string. Crosby came to them from The Byrds so his transition was very easy stepping in with Nash and Stills. At one time I thought I preferred them as a 4 member group with Young. In later years I have learned to appreciate a lot of what they did MINUS Neil Young. I own a S. Stills LIVE cd of a solo album he did in spare time away from C.S.N. in the 70s that is very good.
