Murphy dictates that since you now have asked, if you buy the warranty you will have no problems, and if you don't, you will. So you might as well buy it now.

I am working OCONUS, and have a lovely wife but she doesn't want to deal with any issues. If a warranty took a "risk" from me while working OCONUS, it is something I would want to review as a COA.@GON, If you can afford the six year warranty, you can afford not to have a warranty, LOL. j/k.
Thinking about this more carefully, does the data show the typical high infant mortality that levels off? Do not most folks complain, "One month after the factory warranty expired the thing started acting up!"
Then extending the mfg warranty 1 extra year for a reasonable $250 bucks may just be the ticket!

In just a few days after moving into the home we purchased last summer, the LG refrigerator failed. I came from a "generation" the refrigerators rarely fail and last a very long time. The LG failure brought attention that today's refrigerators may not be of the same reliability/ quality of refrigerators manufactured a few decades ago.Do you have reason to worry about the reliability of this refrigerator model, that drives you towards wanting an extended warranty? The reason I ask is that, if the picture you show is the actual model refrigerator you are asking about, it looks like you have picked a refrigerator that should be very reliable.
Most important is there is no in-door ice dispenser. From what I have read and been told by people in the kitchen appliance industry, in-door ice makers account for almost as many refrigerator service calls than all other refrigerator issues combined. Particularly when the ice maker is in the refrigerator.
Second, from what I have been told from appliance salesmen at large retaile4rs, who sell most all major brands, Bosch makes some of the most reliable refrigerators on the market.

I mean, yeah we had an LG W/D at the last house. Lousy Garbage.
Knocking on wood our house is mostly all Bosch and we have been super satisfied.I wouldn’t almost always not worth it
But I don’t know the reliability of this refrigerator

Actually Costco does. That's why I got our gas dryer from The Home Depot. I like having half the warranty for the same price. If you paid for the refrigerator with a major credit card, most will double manufacturer's warranties up to a year.
Let's hope the LG appliances they sell in Costco will last. Between no question ask return and LG's reputation of bad reliability (phone and refrigerator especially), it is hard to tell.Actually Costco does. That's why I got our gas dryer from The Home Depot. I need to remind myself Costco tends to do better on everything (never believed in auto buying services, until I tried it), not just things in the warehouse club

Well said, the only reason extended warranties are offered is because of the multi hundred percent profit on them.No third-party warranties for me, ever. My Honda dealer in NC offered me one for my new Pilot. I wondered why it wasn't a Honda extended warranty. Those third-party warranties are winners for the seller, not the buyer.
Fully concur. What I found surprising was the numbers. Six year extended warranty in a refrigerator over $1,000 USD. And the warranty isn't even administered by the refrigerator manufacturer, yet the refrigerator manufacturer is the seller of the warranty.Well said, the only reason extended warranties are offered is because of the multi hundred percent profit on them.
While obviously not as complex as a fridge, Samsung front-load washers and dryers don’t have the greatest track record. I got about 2 years out of the dryer before it broke. Called for Samsung repair (circa 2015) and the price was $250 for the call, plus parts. Did some research, the tensioner is a plastic-on-smooth-metal “roller” which gets hot, melts, wheel falls off and drive belt goes limp. Found a revised version with roller bearing, has ranged from $9-14 on Amazon, and ordered one. About 35 minutes, a small blood donation, and enough curse words to make Dave Chappelle blush, it was fixed. That was 10 years ago, and it’s still running, still on the original drive belt. I’ve since done several other friends’ dryers, and have the swap time down to about 15 minutes and no bandaids.Did you write LG?

Yeah, I can understand wanting the peace of mind for your wife.Fully concur. What I found surprising was the numbers. Six year extended warranty in a refrigerator over $1,000 USD. If the six year warranty was in the $400-500 USD price range, I might consider it simply as a solution for my wife while I work OCONUS. At over
$1k USD, no value I can find. Especially when a third party is the administrator of the warranty.
Almost thinking Bosch doesn't want to sell the warranty, but will if you pay a super high premium.
