I ran across some articles about NextGen, and NASCAR. I might start using this stuff even though I do not know how it performs. Nothing fancy, or too in detail, but thought some might be interested.

Green lie. They don't actually use this stuff in a FR9 engine. during a race. They don't say that either.

They used it on a dyno. Roush/Fenway Roush/Yates gets paid millions to promote the sponser.

It's more comparable to solar panels, not matured yet but good enough to lie that it is.

The FR9 ford engine is designed to last about 800 miles, 1100 miles tops.

NASCAR tells warm fuzzy stories about ethanol too! The oil they use in those stock cars are way thinner than 5w20 probably a 5 or 10 weight oil and Nextgen doesn't sell that.

Here is a VOA on the Valvoline NexGen MaxLife, 5w30, SN, GF-5 submitted by a poster some time back. The poster was also kind enough to perform a used oil analysis on this Oil at around 5K and then again at a little over 7K. IMO....with the add pack, this looks to be a quality oil for "Non-Race Car" use....with plenty of Moly plus the sodium fortified add pack.

The only concern with this Valvoline NexGen is that it appears to burn off faster than non NextGen oil....so it's best to keep an eye on the oil level.

The Nationwide motors are not flat tappet

I do not think they are running the stuff off the self but maybe a race version of Nextgen.

I had a hard time believing Valvoline, when they said these NASCARS were running this stuff. I do not think, straight off the shelf NextGen is ran. It just seems like the motor would destroy that oil. High temps, and RPM's. Yes, they are only doing what? Maybe 600 miles a race?...So, maybe it is possible..

Pennzoil made the same claim last year. That their Platinum oil was used in races right off the shelf (there was even a BITOG banner ad about it!) who knows what marketing contortions they went through to make that claim (No, I have no evidence to back up my claim). They were not very specific.

Someone should ask Valvoline to support their claim that these "right off the shelf" oils are actually used during these high competition races.

If Valvoline should refuse to answer and won't post a response......well then....you have your answer.....

If Valvoline does respond and states that these oils are used....right off the Walmart shelf....then you have your answer.....

I'm sure they monitor the board.....since they are a site sponsor.

Just called Valvoline, and spoke with a really nice guy. He actually said, that the oil used in NASCAR is the same you get right off the shelf. He said, there is an article with Carl Edwards even saying that. Moreover, he exclaimed, that their oil primarily comes from Canada, and the Gulf. Not sure if that matters to anyone. Furthermore, implementation of this oil is taking place in Federal vehicles, and I guess, NYC cabs and city vehicles will be using it. So, it looks like it is picking up steam..
