don't forget, if braking is better acceleration is aswell
Great video comparing all 3! UHP all-season, UHP summer, 200. As I have felt in the last few days testing, the difference isn't as much as folks make it out to be.
They are sweet. I used to buy lot of Continental tires for years. Then for some reason most places here stopped stocking them and you always have to order them. I know it's no big deal. I just hate it they not in stock. Thanks! Yes, mounted to my VW Golf Sportwagen. I really like these wheels + tires. I'll get a second set of these same wheels and swap the PS4 ASs to them for winter and sell the black APR wheels I had on here.

"While there was some disadvantage to the UHPAS tire, it was impressively less than I believed." Lap time was down 1.5% over the summer, but the subjective feel was the main difference he noted to your point. Braking while steering and the improvement in "sharpness" were the biggest difference he noted and due to the blockier tread pattern on tires that are designed to be able to handle some snow/cold. It's a good video, worth 14 min. He was "mega impressed" with the DWS06+ which matches my feelings on the PS4 AS that I have spent time on including driving them at the limit.I only skimmed the video but it appears the summer beat the a/s in every single category. Plus he didn't talk about feel, which is a big one.
A/S wins for treadlife and winter use, that's really about it. And if you need winter tires you (not you specifically) should get winter tires.
Yeah I pulled out quick onto a main road early in the morning once on a 34 degree morning and next thing I know the back end was getting loose. When I got them/had the mounted it was December so took them out in the mid-to-upper 30s...yeah no thanks. PS4 AS were the ticket.
One thing is that I'm awd so not so much drama just poor ride quality is what I noticed.Yeah I pulled out quick onto a main road early in the morning once on a 34 degree morning and next thing I know the back end was getting loose.
They did extremely well for summer grip (225/45R17), I haven't been able to test the Michelins in a similar use case yet.

What were the temperatures of all the tires and did the test occur on the same surface? Some interesting braking data. So here is a UHP Continental all season when I had a stock/OE brake, the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on a BBK, and now the Conti summers. ~5' shorter distance on the Contis on the same road - temps were cooler today (70) so I take it at 90 I'd shave a few more feet off.

I thought it was cool to see real numbers. And yeah - last year when I finally was getting the hang of it I was beyond what the tires would do during braking so this year will be nice to have these as I progress more. And that is huge difference considering temperature.
Where it will be bigger difference is when you overwhelm tires on track in higher temperatures. That is where A/S tires cannot match UHP summer in any aspect. And very often UHP summers can get damaged on track. Some manufacturers have specific UHP summer tires (not 200wt) that are designed also for a track.
I covered that I thought - same road, same surface, lower ambient (temps are all shown on the Dragy slips I posted), tire temps would be assumed to be similar as I did this after driving on the tires a bit so they weren't cold but didn't take tire temps - that's a bit beyond the scope here for me.What were the temperatures of all the tires and did the test occur on the same surface?
Gotcha, I was specifically thinking of temps of the tires themselves and I forgot to mention tire pressure.I covered that I thought - same road, same surface, lower ambient (temps are all shown on the Dragy slips I posted), tire temps would be assumed to be similar as I did this after driving on the tires a bit so they weren't cold but didn't take tire temps - that's a bit beyond the scope here for me.
Tire pressure the same. 37 cold and whatever that is warm...about 40.Gotcha, I was specifically thinking of temps of the tires themselves and I forgot to mention tire pressure.
They can do one more track dayWell 24K total miles (16K me/8K previous owner as I got them used 2 years ago) and these are kicked/at the bars. Ordering a new set today of the revised 02 version from DT 235/40/18. Got the wheels all cleaned up, weights removed/adhesive off, corrosion on hub bore removed. I just take the wheels to have the tires installed. Note the "W" in the tread is nearly gone indicated the wet performance is gone. "D" for dry still ok. A bit lower in the middle of tread so need to lower my pressure a bit..usually at 37 so will go 35. Lows this week in 30s here but that looks to be it so will toss em' on this weekend....remove usually in November to swap out for my "winters" which here are just all seasons (PSAS4s). These come with a 30K warranty so next set since I'm buying new will get a bit of a discount from the prorate...wonder of they will honor on these since I'm not the original buyer?
