Considering replacement vehicle. Help.

We have a 2019 Rav4 with what I believe is the same A25A-FKS 2.5l dynamic force engine and same transmission as the Camry. Ours only has 35K miles on it so far, so of course no issues. I think the mileage is really good for the size of the car.

We passed on the Honda cr-v due to continued oil dilution problems of the 1.5l and CVT trans, but overall it was a nice car for the price as well.

KBB is $13,9xx. Greg's Accord is immaculately maintained and in incredible condition. It's easily worth that.

Go buy a rock chipped carpet stained version of the same car at a dealer for a couple thousand more. Then pay dealer doc fee, sales tax, etc.

Full synthetic oil changes every 1k just to trade it at 75k miles!

I know the paint will be coming off in chunks sooner or later. I’d prefer not to drive in something like that. Love love love the car. Wish I had got a different color to begin with. Also no one will give me any reasonable offer on a trade with paint flaking off.
Isn’t re-spraying the panel cheaper than 15-20K loan?

These days the only people who get a cheap and good paint job, are those that already spent thousands of dollars on their own shop, equipment, supplies, and spent years to build the skill.
Everyone else has to pay $5k for a crappy 3 year job, or $10k-$13k for a good one with warranty.

I would pass on the Honda. The Honda 1.5 T is know for fuel dilution.
This is not true. My 1.5T civic is at 70k miles right now, and the only time I’ve seen oil level increase on the dipstick was with factory fill. Ever since it’s been changed, oil level always is always stable. I’ve ran several UOA and while fuel dilution was reported at 3-4%, it didn’t seem to present an issue. Switching to 0/5w30 eliminated the concern for reduced oil viscosity due to fuel dilution.

id just drive your old accord until the wheels fall off. you don't need paint if you don't live somewhere wet/salty (i guess Florida is wet) and no paint is just anti theft.

Any head gasket issue concerns? I’m reading a lot of head gasket and injector failures around 60-80k

Yes I’m still considering that. But I know when the paint goes so does the value of the car. Also I’d prefer not to drive around in something with flaking paint. It might sound crazy to you, but I think you understand. Also value is up right now so maybe a good time to trade. Idk.

@gregk24
I see that you want something closer to a midsize car. The Camry is a little bigger than the Jetta. But, you like Hondas and Volkswagens. Why don’t you look at the VW Tiguan? It has the room that you are looking for. It’s classified as a CUV. To me, it seems closer to a station wagon than a CUV. It is comfortable. The interior is laid out well. The fit and finish is top notch. Being 6’2” and 225, it’s easy to get in and out of. The 2.0 TSI engine is a little noisy. With 184hp, it’s not going to win any races. However, the power is adequate for city and highways. The fuel mileage is pretty good too.
