Cold in wisconsin.

A couple inches of snow and -9F this morning just west of St. Louis, Missouri

Cant wait to see our gas bills
Not that it’s cheap when electric either -
wonder sometimes what load “convenience“ puts on the grid - your great grandfather dug past snow to pull some more wood from the shed - but my daughter whips out her iPhone to change the settings

The 1970s windows in my apartment are doing their best… maybe… (I’m in the south central part of the state). Temp was -10f when I drove to work this morning.

Fortunately, I haven’t really had to use the heat much in the apartment this winter. It stays around 60-65f with it turned off (even with temps below 0f) since I’m up high in the building and have big windows that face south (though this is a problem during the cooling season). I’ll bump it to 70f or so when I’m home and awake.

I only used $15 total in electricity for Nov 15- Dec 15, which is pretty solid.

Headed to Milwaukee there tomorrow, tomorrow supposed to be a high of 10. I've been to a Packer game when it was 10 degrees, but there was hardly any wind.

I had to venture out this morning at -8F. The wind was the issue. I'm not into theoretical numbers, but I think they claimed a wind chill of -32F at the time. I'll just say it was cold. 🥶

The snowstorm people were talking about never came to fruition (thank God)...Several plus inches was predicted; personally I'd take the cold instead of heavy snowfall.

I can tell you from driving on multiple highways all over Wisconsin over the past 2 days that we got plenty of snow and it has not stopped in many places. I am in Appleton currently and the drive here from Madison featured 30mph winds with very strong gusts that were blowing snow everywhere. Whiteout conditions on I-41 north of Oshkosh.

Be safe and stay warm out there my friends 🥶

4 here now. I believe the drain pipe for the washer may have partially frozen as there was water on the floor and down below in the basement. I dumped some water down it and didn’t seen any signs that it was cracked. It’s a 6” wall but the trap portion is below in the basement and maybe too close to the band board. The house was built in 2014 and this is the first time I’ve had an issue.

I’m just a bit north of Milwaukee so we’ve been spared unlike most of the state.

We got about 2”~ in my area. Mainly wind blown so not bad. I’m in Somerset PA now and they have almost 6” on sides of roads. It’s a balmy -5F too

Not really, experiences are the spice of life. Now, if you decided you wanted to live in bitter cold, I would wonder.
I enjoy the change of seasons. We enjoy watching the cardinals, wood peckers, blue jays, chickadees, and other winter birds at our feeders. I try to stay active outdoors even in the winter.

I keep adding sheet metal and spraying peppermint spray to get the woodpecker to go back to your house..

Go ahead, send them woodpeckers. I'll send back the carpenter bees I recently found while repairing my barn door sliding track.......
